Do you think it would be fun to be a General Authority?

Post by _karl61 »

Saints/members get excited when they see you; in some cases eyes fill with tears; they want to shake your hand, you travel the globe, everyone invites you to dinner; you have thanksgiving dinner everyday, you sit on a court of appeals; you redact/edit information for the general church population; you get an expense account; you write books which will automatically be accepted for publication, people record your thoughts and relisten to them on personal time; and in some cases you get a driver.

I guess I would also be concerned if someone posted some information on the web that could possibly take all that away.

And every word you utter will be brought up by antimormons to laugh, mock and disparage. And you will be personally mocked by faceless internet cyberoids for their own amusement.

Yep, it sounds good...sign me up. :=0

Those cyberoids can be rather painful.

* here is a miniaturized version showing the absence of any faceless internet cyberoids.

I could never be neutered.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Are the female leaders of Relief Society and YW and Primary not considered "general authorities"? I know they're generally not referred to as such, but would it be incorrect to refer to them that way?

They are leaders only of auxillaries, not the general membership. Hence cannot be referred to as "general" authorities, since they have no authority over the general membership.

I think it might be cool, if for no other reason than we can tell the lamest joke in the world and still get the audience to roll in the aisle in laughter.

It's as if the rank and file consider it almost sinful not to guffaw at the geriatric suits' lame attempts at humor.
