Why are there people like this in the world?
I don't know about you, but I plan on blaming the Mormons.

The gunman did indeed have my neighbor and her daughter held hostage. The daughter was released earlier, unharmed. My neighbor was shot some time ago and has lost a lot of blood. She was just rushed to the hospital via life flight after her crazy ex surrendered to police.
One policeman was shot, but it in good condition.
I still can't leave the house; they've put police tape across the street! Hopefully, they will allow us to leave soon.
Really, I expected it to end worse than it did. I hope my neighbor isn't injured too badly.
Please keep us posted as to how your neighbor is faring!
The Ex-boyfriend did society one last outrage by not offing himself at the end. Save everyone the cost of prosecuting him and them imprisoning his sorry sick ass for life for his litany of crimes.
A friend of the neighbor who was shot called one of my other neighbors and said that although our injured friend lost quite a bit of blood, it looks like she's going to pull through just fine. What a relief!
Also, I love your moniker! Puccini's Turandot is the first opera to which I took my daughter, Courtney. She was only six, but loved it!
For those unfamiliar with the opera, and for those of us familiar with it, as well, here's a clip of Birgit Nilsson in the role of Turnadot. Her voice is lovely.

And that is why if I'm ever held hostage, I want the police to shoot the sorry SOB even if I get injured too since I probably will be anyhow. Even if I wouldn't have been hurt, I'd rather die than let a pscho loose to hurt someone else. Not saying that all hostages should feel the same though. Maybe people could have some sort of hostage-will they turn in to the police.
Hope your neighbor does better and I'm glad she's alive and the psycho is caught. So I'd say the police did the right thing here. I'm just more expressing my absolute hatred of those who take hostages and wish to make hostage-taking even less attractive.
Hope your girls are OK too. Maybe some games, movies, or the like will suffice for the moment.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO
Yes, the gunman surrendered. I hope he's locked away for a long, long time.

Shooting the girl friend is one thing but shooting the cop will ensure a much longer stay, with naughtier cell mates. Too bad you and your kids had such a harrowing experience. Sort of makes you want to keep some kevlar vests and helmets on hand.
