Right now, the police are surrounding my house! No joke!

Yes, the gunman surrendered. I hope he's locked away for a long, long time.

Shooting the girl friend is one thing but shooting the cop will ensure a much longer stay, with naughtier cell mates. Too bad you and your kids had such a harrowing experience. Sort of makes you want to keep some kevlar vests and helmets on hand.

Or an assault weapon.

I gotta wonder about the motivation of these guys, though. "I know! I'll go shoot her! That'll make her love me!"

I've been pretty damned crazy before, but I can't imagine losing that much control...

I'm so pleased it is over KA! Thankfully your neighbor and her daughter weren't physically hurt. Can't but wonder about the emotional scars though.

Hi, Monkeys!

Actually, my neighbor was shot. I must not have been very clear. She was shot and injured but apparently will make it, at least according to her doctors. Thankfully, her daughter was unharmed, at least physically.

This whole experience has been really hard on the neighborhood kids and I hope things are back to normal soon. Right now there are news crews broadcasting on the corner...

Oh! You were clear! I didn't read very well. Ack! Sorry. :)

Well I'm glad she'll make it!

I'm sure it is startling to everyone.

How long was the standoff in total?

{Moderator Note} Link removed...it had KA's address in the article. PM me if you have questions. Liz

You are right, KA does live on the same street as the victim. I hope everybody doesn't descend on her house now.

Anyway, it did make the news.

Yes, these people are completely irrational. Nothing makes sense. As far as the ex boyfriend is concerned, I'm sure he's convinced that if she had only done what he wanted, things would have turned out just right, and they would be living happily ever after right now. Its all her fault for making him do this.

My psycho stalker (but much less violent) ex boyfriend would say that he was praying for me to have a change of heart, just as Alma prayed for Alma the Younger to have a change of heart. He was convinced that if I would just...change my mind about breaking up with him (I guess), things would be fine. It was ME who was being uncooperative!

A friend of the neighbor who was shot called one of my other neighbors and said that although our injured friend lost quite a bit of blood, it looks like she's going to pull through just fine. What a relief!

Also, I love your moniker! Puccini's Turandot is the first opera to which I took my daughter, Courtney. She was only six, but loved it!

For those unfamiliar with the opera, and for those of us familiar with it, as well, here's a clip of Birgit Nilsson in the role of Turnadot. Her voice is lovely.

Thanks, KA. "Turandot" is my favorite opera and I've been fortunate to have seen it live twice. I have season opera tickets again this year (Turandot is not on this year's line up) and am looking forward to seeing "Cosi Fan Tutte" (again) "The Pearl Fishers"; "Tosca" (again); "La Boheme" (again); and "Julius Caesar."

I have a recording of "Turandot" featuring Luciano Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland.

Wow!

Glad to see nothing happened to you and your family.

Where was your hubby?

Now, lets put on our Mormon mickey mouse hat shall we?

"I heard her neighbor is an evil Mormon apostate, I wonder if satan used her house to get closer to them?"

"Yeah, I bet KA had Lucifer over for a dinner appointment!"

"Its too bad KA did this, perhaps this family would have accepted the gospel and their home could have been blessed by the home teachers and NONE of this would have happened!"

All kidding aside, glad to see the police did their jobs and protected the public!

I would like to publicly state that Hell has no official policy on psychotic stalkers. We neither support nor inhibit their activities.
