I offered a mild corrective but Dan didn't like it.

I responded once to his comments, to which he also responded. And less than an hour later the moderator investigated and then shut me down.

I guess this is why Bishop Dan no longer posts here -- he doesn't have Mod protection like at MAD. What a wuss.

Daniel no longer posts here because he would actually have to engage an argument, instead of punching a strawman or a contributing supposedly funny quip.

That's my impression, too. Dan rarely engages the argument but, as you said, enjoys what he considers witty banter. I don't respond to his stuff much anymore. He's a very intelligent person, but I think he's made a conscious decision not to engage on these kinds of boards.

He's said as much, yes. And he blames the board's format and the posters lack of skill, rather than his own inability to actually engage an argument. Typical behavior for him, I must say. In all the years I've frequented the boards (going on 10 years now), the only time I've seen him engage is with Kevin, and then only because he has to in order to avoid looking like a fool. (he still looks like a fool most of the time with Kevin, but at least occasionally he says something worthwhile.)

I'll never understand why you guys even post over there. It is only obvious from the years of blather here and on RFM that anyone with half a brain is going to be banned.

Like it has been said before, MAD can only exist in its own bubble. Before long, there will be nothing to talk about except the baring of testimonies to each other.

But still we all have our sock puppets and I can understand that. I still post on RFM routinely even though I was banned over three years ago by Susan I/S. She banned me for my work on the Mormon Curtain.

What was wrong or objectionable about your work on the Mormon Curtain?

I'm curious about that myself. It doesn't make much sense.

Perhaps the only website that Susan I/S wants to be available for ex-Mormons is RfM. Jealousy?

You can read the entire episode for yourself:

http://www.mormoncurtain.com/topic_mormoncurtain.html#pub_1544876491

She claimed the entire RFM site was blanket copyrighted and demanded that I take down all posts culled from RFM. She claimed that the "RFM attorneys" were worried that if I took a copy of an article from RFM, placed in on the MC and linked it back to RFM - RFM may get sued because of it. I believe this stemmed from the original UTLM case wherein LDS Inc. sued the Tanners for linking to a copy of the CHI. Because Susan stated her attorneys were involved, I also involved mine (who is now retired). My attorney investigated the copyright claims and found them unsubstantiated.

In the end, Susan never produced anything of substance and I believe it was simply the fact that Susan didn't like what she perceived as "competition". The Mormon Curtain has never been about competition, and I have a long history of very large compilations in different areas. I spent five years here: http://www.smithysanvil.com as I am and always will be an avid gamer. It was in fact, Bob McCue that nudged me into putting the Mormon Curtain up after discussing with him my desire to archive what I perceived to be some of the best Ex-Mormon posts of the time. I'm glad I did and though hundreds (literally hundreds) have thanked me for helping them get out of the church - ultimately it was communities like this one that did the work.

So to this end I am still banned from RFM. If you look at the top of RFM, they also ban all blogs as well because people were cross-referencing the Mormon Curtain. Again, RFM wants to be the sole representation of Ex-Mormonism on the Internet. I run the Ex-Mormon Forums http://www.exmormonforums.com. The atmosphere there is a thousand times different than RFM as I do not allow anonymous posting and I'm very careful about who I let in (although I must digress, Ed Decker recently applied and I accepted him in...)

If you put "Infymus", "Mormon Curtain" anywhere in your message at RFM, the message is instantly banned.
