Alright, a new day! (I was leaving work last night.) Interesting replies by all! One thing that stuck out was Blix's adoration of cooking. I have to say that is something I will never understand, and admire you for that interest. I just don't have the patience for cooking; it's alomst too much for me to microwave a frozen burrito. I remind myself of the time Homer Simpson was buying appliances and was told "this microwave oven can cook a full turkey in thirty seconds," to which Homer replies "Awww But I want it now."

I love to read, watch Jazz basketball, work out at 24 hour fitness, play basketball, play chess and yahtzee with my wife, train my little dog Chicken Delicious, and I am the primary chorister for my ward.

I really enjoy cooking. It's very relaxing, and a 30-second microwave burrito relaxes in no way.

I like Jazz basketball too (my kids are Rockets fans).

Well I've held off from posting on this thread because I feel LAME-O after reading about Blixa's and Runtu's interests. Oh well. :)

I'm sort of all over the map with my interests. They change. :)

Right now I'm incredibly interested in consciousness. Been reading blogs, and ordered some more books on the subject. I hope that I'm conscious right now. ;)

I go through spells of finding something I'm interested in and devouring it. I went through the epidemics a while back and was very interested in Ebola, Smallpox, etc... And just recently got over that morbid fascination. :)

I'm always interested in political theory and every so often get sucked back into that.

I enjoy historic home renovation and am involved with the local Chapter that preserves homes in my area. I also am involved in the Main Street Society that works on rejuvenating the small town's historic charm that I live in. There was a pawn shop that recently opened on our town square with a neon sign in it and I just about went into full combust mode. :)

I enjoy theatre and try to go to a few local productions throughout the year and help them put on their productions. My daughters go to a visual and performing arts school which I also am involved in with a variety of activities. I have to really watch myself or I can put too much time into it because I love the people and activities that theatre involves.

I play the piano and that's another thing that can consume too much of my time. If I sit down it's hard to pull me away, so I have to set a timer. :)

I volunteer at a local shelter for battered women and am very involved with the support and advocacy work involved with that. I also help an attorney in our area with the pro bono work when she helps these women to maneuver the legal system in our community that is set up for the good ole boys in our area. *scowl*

I garden quite a bit and am so shocked and pleased that all of my rose bushes are in FULL bloom and it's November! In the summer I have loads of fresh veggies that are marvelous to pluck right out of my garden. I spend quite a bit of time in my garden during the Summer months. I love flowers too and always am landscaping and adding on to my existing plan. Or ripping it out and redoing it as I see fit. It never ends cause I keep changing my mind. :)

I enjoy music quite a bit and scour ebay searching for my hearts desires.

I collect vinyl and comic books which is why Ebay is my best friend. :)

Just recently I've started reading up on adoption before Roe v. Wade (I was adopted) and the struggles and social pressures these young women faced during that time period. I'm reading, The Girls Who Went Away.

I'm trying to stop smoking. Not very successfully. Well, I think about it but don't put a lot of effort into it. That's on my to do list. :)

I enjoy antique shopping and finding messes that I can restore.

Oh, I'm sure I'll think of some other things later. That's a start.

Cool! I'm the Primary Pianist for my ward! We just finished our program last week! :)

Let's see....like Monkeys, my interests are kind of all over the map.

I teach and develop continuing education, career preparation, and Computer Science courses for one of the larger community colleges here. My Master's degree is in Computer Science with an emphasis in Web Programming.

I'm an unconventional student....went back to school at 35, and got my Master's degree when I was 38.

I've been teaching in the college system now for almost 8 years.

My undergraduate work was in Music Performance with a Voice Performance emphasis. I have recently started a voice/piano studio out of my home. With the home business, and teaching at the college, my life stays pretty crazy!

I also have three children...two daughters, ages 18 and 15, and a son, age 3.

I love to read, but have a hard time actually finding time to leisure read. My favorite authors include J.K. Rowling (love the Harry Potter books!), Michael Crichton, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Tom Clancy.

I love to listen to and sing Broadway music, and am a big fan of Broadway musicals. Among my favorites are: "Jekyl and Hyde", "The Last Five Years", "Rent", "Phantom of the Opera", "A Chorus Line", "Avenue Q", "Chicago", "Sound of Music", "West Side Story", "The King and I".

I am a "Star Wars" nerd. I love Star Wars! I own all six movies on DVD, and if Lucas decided to release a new package of all 6 with newly released material, I would probably buy them! LOL

I'm fascinated with special effects. I think this comes from my programming background. I would love to learn how to program utilizing CG.

Some of my favorite movies are:

Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
The Matrix
Sabrina (the remake)
Hannibal
Top Gun
Bridget Jones' Diary

There are many more...but I'll stop for now.

I'm also a huge "Sex and the City" fan, and own all of those DVD's as well. LOL

I just bought a MacBook, and am having fun playing with the Garage Band software, doing some very amateur recording.

I've probably bored you by now, so I'll stop.

I keep seeing things and realizing that I enjoy them too. So here's some more:

-I like playing chess (although I've pissed off everyone I know by beating them--so I went online and played a few hundred games on yahoo chess...probably 1500+ ranking on that)
-I do enjoy theatre (particularly small intimate theaters...) I'm going to a production of Angels in America at a small theatre on campus this weekend. Have seen quite a few other productions, Hound of the Baskervilles production being my favorite play I've ever seen I think
-As to TV...I like Mythbusters/Dirty Jobs/and other Discovery channel shows (I used to watch Network TV but just haven't gotten into this season). I also like reruns of MASH, Gulligan's Island, Frasier, Cheers, ER (the early years) and I like Cops for the unintentional comedy factor.

-As to my sports teams, I like the Cleveland Cavs, the Atlanta Braves, Columbus Crew in MLS, Arsenal and Liverpool in EPL, college football and basketball, the Packers, the Colts, and the Bengals in NFL (Bengals>Packers>Colts).

I forgot to mention I've been playing the drums for about 12 years, and recorded an album right before my mission with a small not-very-good band called "Can We Be Franc."

LOAP: good drummers are hard to find.

I work as a research scientist at a small biotech company in Colorado. Before that, I taught biology at UVSC. Therefore, I guess you could say that one of my interests is science (specifically molecular biology, evolution, and genetics). When I'm not working, I enjoy reading, watching movies, and playing/writing music. My favorite fiction writers are Cormac McCarthy, Don DeLillo and Tim O'Brien. I also love to read cheesy mysteries...books by Michael Connelly and Robert Crais. I like all kinds of movies. I'll watch pretty much anything. I like to write reviews of movies, too. You can read some of those here if you'd like (profanity warning). When I exercise (I've been lazy the last few months), I prefer swimming. I was a USS swimmer as a kid. I love music. I currently have over 50 gigs of music in my iTunes, nearly all of which was imported from my CD collection. My favorite band is Wilco. Some of my other favorites include Calexico, Grandaddy (still sad that they broke up), Built to Spill, Pavement, Califone, and The Frames. I'm on a metal kick right now, two of my favorite groups being Mastodon and Orange Goblin. I like to write and record music. I play guitar and bass and keyboards and program drum beats and stuff.
