Actually, Scratch has stated publicly on previous forums that he is an active Mormon. I'll take him at his word on that.

Why is it so hard to imagine that there are active Church members with liberal views?

I'm an active member of the Church, but my views are very liberal, and there is Church doctrine I disagree with.

I remain anonymous not because of any fear of Church leadership...I don't really give a rat's ass what they think or don't think. My reasons for anonymity are based on safety.

However, there are friends of mine on the board who know my identity as well, and can attest to the fact that I am an active Church member.

I too am an active church member. I am confused a lot about all religion. I just feel he is not active. I cannot explain my reasons for such feelings.

I have seen Scratch defend the church on two threads, I don't remember which ones though.

One was on the Word of Wisdom if I'm not mistaken.

You know plenty about me on the basis of my posts.

Have you been published? If so, where?

What is your academic background, if any?

Are you American?

Are you male, or female?

Are you a member of the Church? Active? Inactive? Exmo? What?

Are you married? Do you have children?

These are some basic questions I know about most other posters I've posted with over the years. Some of them have been subjected to ridicule, true. You know about my daughter, you know about my ex-wife, you know about my Church status, you know far more about me than I know about you. Yes, these are personal questions, and you don't have to answer. But you are constantly scrutinising other people, and you have "informants". What do these informants do for you? Obviously gather information on others, even if it comes from the Internet (and I doubt all of it does, and I still have a question mark over my Z. letter, which was private information, but I still copped it fair and square).

You have already stated the reason you don't want anyone to know about you - because you fear criticism. I put it to you that this is not even in the spirit of D. Michael Quinn himself, who has been very open about his own life. Quinn has hidden nothing. And in his PBS interview he revealed even more. You don't impress me, as Quinn does.

This is one reason I say you don't know much about Mormonism. Most of your ideas seem to come from reading commentary, not actual scriptural sources. You also don't seem to have much knowledge of the D&C, and very little of Church History. You are what I would classify as a "tabloid" commentator - interested mainly in sensationalism, and character assassination, which is "great" tabloid reading.

No, Ray. You are overlooking the most important point here, which is that the Mopologists destroyed someone's life. Own up, mate.

I presume you're referring to Quinn? If so, where does Quinn say that the Church destroyed his life? I don't want your words, I want to see what Quinn has said. And specifically, I want to know if he has implicated DCP, as you do.

Or, are you referring to your life?

Do you still believe, as Quinn does? IE, are you a believer in Mormonism?

See, what doesn't make sense is this, Ray. You know plenty about me. You know how I write; you know my views on all sorts of LDS topics. You demand more information, but you aren't very specific about what you'd like to know. So far as I can tell, you really only want to know two things:

---My gender
---My Church status

Is that correct? Or are there other things you feel that you need to know?

With all due respect, you are a newcomer. Scratch has a long history going back to FAIR, and then on MDB. I said he doesn't have to answer these questions, and I'm sure he won't. I don't need to know about you, because you don't do what Scratch does.
