I'd like to hear from LDS or ex-LDS just what you believe about Adam and Eve being cast out of the Garden of Eden. In your belief, why did God cast them out?

My belief about it is that it never happened.

In your belief, why did God cast them out?

When I was an active, believing Mormon, my belief was nothing more than what the church itself taught me: That with their quasi-glorified bodies, they weren't able to have children, thus a "fall" was required to start the human race. As the old LDS couplet goes, "Adam fell, but he fell forward."

Being cast out happened after the fall. So the question isn't about if the fall was necessary or not. That has all been settled.

They were cast out for their own good. People should work for their living. They would not have learned much in the Garden where everything just grew on its own.

What about the mentally ill or those who died as infants?

They never experienced these required steps towards godhood by "learning" to work in life. It seems unfair to make this glorious step in the plan of salvation unavailable to the unfortunate and handicapped.

Are you saying that LDS primarily believe that they were cast out due to unemployment?

Yes, I understand that. But exactly how much do LDS believe the rent on the garden was and even if they WERE employed, where would the money have come from? Is it a question of their not making the right decision....like manufacturing money, dreaming up a job to do and paying the rent?

I was joking. Maybe their currency was the fruit of the tree of life afterall it was very precious.

I will get back to you tomorow on what I think. I think much of my idea's stem from my mum and things from her studies. But it might be legnthy and so I would like to reply in a logical order.
