The current post on the marvelous illustration blog, BibliOdyssey (http://bibliodyssey.blogspot.com/) features some Kircher illustrations about various things magnetic. At the bottom of the post there is a collection of links to other depositories of Kircher illustration (also, if you read the comments you'll find one I left about recently initiating another person into the cult of Kircher). BibliOdyssey is amazing, by the way, in fact it's probably my all time favorite blog--and it just got turned into a book! As a long time fan of P.K.'s I'm chuffed that his data mining has become so successful: that book is in every bookstore, design shop and boutique in NYC.

Anal probe? Now that would be sick! No, this instrument used the much more common method of striking the cat's tail with a needle.

When my friend that lives there was in town over Thanksgiving, he showed me so many amazing photos. by the way, here’s his website: http://www.freewebs.com/jazjericho/ If you click on the “Groove Your Ass Off” link, you can hear some of his songs (some were recorded here in Vegas, some in his room at the Hotel Chelsea). That crazy skull/butterfly picture is something he originally carved out of a pizza box when he was still living here in Vegas. He has made several of them now (some quite large). If you go to the “Live Shows & Skank Ho’s” link there are a couple of pictures in there of where he has left his mark in NYC (Billboards, payphones, windows, etc.)… and if nothing else, you can see a picture of him naked on a windowsill flipping the bird.

Thanks for posting the link to that blog...it's absolutely amazing. I'm now a believer in the sunflower clock. Those illustrations are genius.
