Many Mormons I know like Paul.

He might be more popular in the Midwest. Down in Texas we mostly have dyed in the wool Republicans and a divided Democratic Party (liberal Democrats and Southern Democrats).

Have to say, I didn't see that coming. A pleasant surprise.

I think the Republican's best bet is to throw their support behind Edwards.

Round 1 (Iowa)

Looks like Iowa is going to Huckabee with Romney taking quite a shot on the chin.

For the Democrats it looks like Obama is taking the cake, Hilary and Edwards are too close to call.

THe three Democrats are neck and neck

Romney did take a hit but let's see how Romney does and how Huckabee is ignored, in a state that is not as heavy with fundies

Course this may be a forbearer for Romney in states with EV bigots.

I didn't like Edwards speech at all. Practically put me into snooze mode. A bit negative, I thought. Enjoyed Hillary's speech quite a bit as she was positive and inclusive.

Watching Huckabee now.

What fun!

I loved the speech on Fox News by Romney (he does look Presidential doesn't he? And has a silver voice.)...but it wasn't as good as the one with Huckabee's campaign manager (a dumpy sortof old man) who said "yeah that tall leggy blonde was my wife. We snuck away for a private lunch and apparently the one other person in the restaurant was the blogger who is writing about us. It was a private conversation and I don't want to talk about any of the stuff I said".

Yah, Romney is smooth, he does appear Presidential. Huckabee seems more like the "average" guy, though and he just seems more personable, to me, which usually resonates with voters. Missed the campaign manager thing. Did you see the percentage of evangelicals that showed up? Four years ago, apparently those that self identified as born again or EVs were at 30 something percent. This time it was over 50% that self identified themselves as such that came out in force to vote for Huckabee.

Also, I just want to state that it makes me so proud that in a state where there is a 2% African American population that an African American man won the Democratic primary. That pleases me.

Watching Obama now. Good start. It is a defining moment in history. Truly. :)

Very good speech by Obama...he's got a little southern preacher in him.
