Archimedes Codex Discussion

Post by _richardMdBorn »

There will be a discussion tomorrow on WGN-AM (720) from 9:07-10:00 CST on

THURSDAY, JANUARY 17th

THE ARCHIMEDES CODEX

In 1998, a medieval prayer book sold for $2 million at an auction. Why did this prayer book sell for so much? Because it held untold secrets, that’s why! As it turns out, the prayer book was penned by a monk in 1200 A.D. Underneath the prayers, it has been found, was an earlier text- the lost works of Archimedes, the greatest mathematician of antiquity. Joining us tonight to explain this amazing discovery will be Will Noel, the curator of manuscripts at the Walters Art Museum and co-author of The Archimedes Codex: How a Medieval Prayer Book is Revealing the True Genius of Antiquity’s Greatest Scientist.
