I'm not so sure about that, Loran. Where in the Bible does it mention a church of Jesus Christ?

Matt. 16:18

Romans 16:16

Ephesians 5:23

Hebrews 12:23

Are you one of those people who think what Jesus says in the Bible is really what Jesus said?

I should introduce you to Daniel Peterson. He's the one who first made fun of me for thinking exactly that.

Romans 16:16

Ephesians 5:23

Hebrews 12:23

Why was this comment necessary? You are just purposely trying to provoke her. Harmony had made no comments in this thread prior to this little gem. Why do you have to be such an ass to her?

Coggins wrote:Allowing someone who violated the law of Chastity in that manner, especially while in the position he was in, to simply continue in his normal Church privileges, in his sacred spiritual privileges with others who have remained faithful while suffering the same temptations and infirmities would make a mockery of the entire purpose of the Church, as well as send the message that sin, and even serious sin, really isn't that big a deal. No matter what you do, your standing and participation in the Church will not change.

This is a sincere question, Coggins. Please help me to understand this. The Sacrament is symbolic of Christ's body and blood. It is a ritual we as Church members engage in to honor and remember the sacrifice Christ suffered for us. As a sinner, how is it mocking Christ to honor and remember him in this way?

I've always thought it strange that those who partake of the sacrament unworthily eat and drink damnation to their souls. The point of the sacrament is that every one of us is unworthy in the sight of God. It is through the Atoning blood of Jesus Christ, which we receive symbolically through baptism and the sacrament, that we are made "worthy."

KA is right, Cogs. It doesn't make a lot of sense if you do believe in forgiveness and grace.

Somehow I think those two words are incomprehensible to Loran.

I agree. Where is this arbitrary line that we cross from a sinner to a really bad sinner? And, explain again why really bad sinners don't need the sacrament?

I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

There's nothing to try Harmony, as you are far too wrapped around your own navel to be reachable through the means of rational discourse.

Really, you are a poster child for Boomer era narcissism gone berserk; almost, one might think to the point of self parody of the very idea.

No one so solipsistically enveloped in their own self importance can possibly be anything then a prey for those interested parties who specialize in preaching to such itching ears. You will, so long as to continue on this course Harmony, be a spiritual and intellectual victim of your own self enclosed membrane formed of pride and self pity.

In other words, you have nothing to add. Well, it's not like that's news.

Can I just say once again how much I enjoy reading your prose, Cogs?
