Truth is, I don't think you even have a stake president.
I think you are as fake as fake comes.
So then, your point was....what? For the record: I *do* have a Stake President, and in fact I received a letter from him not terribly long ago. If this means I'm "fake," well then, so be it.
But, much like Harmony, you're actual knowledge of LDS doctrine would lead one to think otherwise.

The LDS that post on that board, and stereotype people by their faith and their region, are just as bigoted as those that they are accusing of bigotry.
Sheesh. What silliness.
That's funny, because Scratch is the primary purveyor of anti-southern bigotry in this forum.

Moniker wrote:Charity, what do you think of LDS that say all other Christians (not LDS) are out to line their pockets and the preachers want to herd more sheep into their Churches 'cause they want more moolah? IT IS RIDICULOUS! The stereotypes that some continue to perpetuate against those outside their Church are just as ridiculous as those that call LDS Satanic.
Are some LDS saying this? That's too bad if they are. For the most part, over the lasts 25 years or so, this is the attitude I've heard coming, for the most part, from secular liberals.

I don't recall having ever heard anything like that either (notwithstanding BRM's "whore of Babylon" remarks, of course). What I *have* heard, repeatedly, are rather dark insinuations about these other churches being the tool of Satan. These insinuations usually come in the form of stories about how such-and-such felt "uneasy," or "felt the Spirit leave," etc. upon visiting said church, or reading materials from said church, etc.
As previously pointed out, knowledge of LDS doctrine, essentially zero.

Fundraising is fundraising. The point is that the objective of sending out the "free" copies of the Book of Mormon is no different than sending out direct mail to individual prospective donors. "Conversion" just legitimizes it.
Knowledge of LDS doctrine, culture, and motivations, zero.
Welcome to Scratchville.

No knowledge of Mormon Doctrine apparently due to the fact that it wasn't reviewed in frontpagemag.com. Such a pity! Probably, though, Coggs could have learned some new words for his "huge vocabulary". Boy, I sure know *I* am blown away by his command of the English language!

Try reading McConkie's analysis of the Great and Abominable Church in that work and return to the fray when you can regurgitate the salient points of that analysis with some semblance of accuracy.

As I recall, Bruce was slapped quite forcefully across the knuckles for his misguided analysis of the Great and Abominable Church in Mormon Doctrine. Perhaps that escaped your notice?

Really? Could you source that? His statement was that the GAC was any organization whatever; religious, political, fraternal, philosophical, academic etc.; any group or ideology that tends to take human beings on a course away from their Father in Heaven, Christ, and the truth. I've seen that understanding confirmed in other Church publications.
That is also the manner in which the Book of Mormon seems to understand the concept.
Don't inhale Harmony.
