MDB Book Club
Bond is currently reading The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I thought it may be a great book for discussion! So, I'm going to go tear apart my attic to find my copy and read it with him. Anyone else interested?
I thought if we did do a book club that we could go light chat to the more intensive discussion -- participants can each bring what they have to offer into the discussion.
If anyone else is interested we could do a new book every month and have someone start the discussion. A way I've done that in the past is to find certain quotes that could spark discussion. We could each make a list of what books we'd like to read and discuss and perhaps vote from there?
This book can easily be found in libraries, second hand book stores, or online: http://product.half.ebay.com/The-Brothe ... 8QQtgZinfo

I'm up to the part where they're meeting with the Clergyman (right after the exposition part). It seems like a very good so far...very interesting characters.

Moniker,
Lady Sundancer started the book club on ZLMB and I have to say that with the best intentions of all involved it didn't do well. If you like, I can give you a link to the book club there to see what I did so you don't repeat it! I do think a book club can do well during the winter months when people aren't out and about so much.

Why don't you tell me what went wrong?
Well, I would think that even if it's just 2 or 3 of us that's okay by me! I enjoy reading something and discussing with others that have read it. I've spent years cooped up not able to talk to anyone that shared similar interests with me and am eager to jump at any opportunity to have a conversation. :)

I don't know what went wrong. We voted on books, gave an opening date so everyone had time to get their books and started in on them. I put up a chapter schedule so no one would reveal something that others hadn't read yet. Here, this should open to it:

Wow! You're organized. :)
You put a lot of effort into that. I'd rather just read some books and have everyone talk, if they so choose. If it's just Bond and I then I'm okay with that too! :)
Perhaps popular novels would be something more would be interested in? I know when the HP books came out this forum was full of participants. I think the schedule may put too much rigidity into it and would probably lessen the likelihood that some would participate.
We will see...
Anyone else have any ideas? This isn't my baby! If those interested could make this what we want it to be then that would be ideal. I'm not a control freak -- I'm pretty flexible.

Good grief! I just looked at it a bit more carefully and I totally messed up the title to Rough Stone Rolling...and not one LDS called me on it! As I recall, when I started checking out the community to see if there was interest there were many positive responses. When the book club actually opened, it seemed like Kevin and I were really driving it and others kind of fizzled out.
