Salvia is legal to own, sell, and burn in Utah, but it's illegal to inhale.
True story. It's considered an incense.
I've tried Salvia. It was an interesting experience to say the least.
My friend broke out a clean pot-pipe and offered me some.
I was smoking it and was chatting with him on his living room floor. He said something about "it kicks in really fast" and as he said that, my arms and legs started to tingle. You know that pins-and-needles sensation? Yeah, that was it exactly. In a strip about 1 inch wide, the entire length of my arms and legs. I handed him the pipe.
"Yeah, it's kicking in right now."
"You should take another hit. Take another hit. Take another hit. Take another hit. Take another hit. You should take another hit. Everyone says they wish they had taken another hit. Take another hit." He likes to “F” with people.
He tried handing me back the pipe and his arm got really long.
Ever seen Trainspotting? When Ewan injects himself and then sinks into the floor? I experienced that. My whole body went numb and I simply was sucked into a prone position and fell into a canyon.
I can't really find a picture that gives an idea of how things looked, so I'll try to describe it as best I can.
Imagine you have a straight line on a piece of paper. Now imagine that someone grabbed that line and pulled it down. As it is being pulled down, it leaves tracer lines, like an after-image of itself. Now make those all sharp and jagged, like data from a seismograph.
That kind of describes how things appeared.
I felt like I was at the bottom of that canyon for ever. It was like the Grand Canyon of my mind. Then, for some stupid reason, I wondered how long I had been down this canyon.
My sense of time had been completely demolished and for some reason this freaked me out. I started to panic. I was trying to force myself out of this canyon, thinking that when I was out of it, reality would return. But I couldn't move my body. This made me panic even more. I felt like I was hyperventilating, but I wasn't getting any oxygen.
I tried focusing on a book that was on my friend's bookshelf. I couldn't make out the title because of the extreme visuals I was experiencing. For some reason, trying to make out the title of the book calmed me down.
Then, the canyon I had fallen into to, spat me out. It was the smoothest and most graceful (feeling, at least, I don't know what it looked like) act of sitting up that a human has ever done.
My vision rapidly returned to normal and the pins-and-needles came back, then faded.
I was left with this weird feeling of missing something or being late for something.
Total elapsed time, according to the clock on my cell phone. . . About one and a half minutes.
About 15 minutes later, I was back to normal other than a faint sense of homesickness.
It's an intense experience. Probably one of the most intense I've ever had (and I've had some really intense trips).
I think the thing that made it so intense was the amount of time. LSD comes on for me in about 10-25 minutes. Shrooms usually take about 30-45. This took less than a minute to kick in, 10 seconds to peak and then about a minute or so of the weirdest trip I've ever had.
All in all, it was a lot of fun. I want to try mixing MDMA and Salvia. I think the mix of extremely body sensitivity of MDMA and the hypnopompic paralysis-similar insensitivity of salvia would be interesting to say the least.

Oh, Bryan! Thanks for sharing your story. Oh, I sooo want to try this. I think I need to find someone that can sit with me and we can take turns... No kids at home though.
I wonder since it's not illegal and it only lasts for a short period of time -- would that make me a bad mom? I don't even drink anymore... I just would really like to try this.

I just remembered another thing about my one and only experience with this stuff...
You have to do it by yourself. If you are in a room with other people, I guess it gets confusing and you don't really go into the dreamy state. It was weird, I remember all my buddies huddled around me, watching me take a bong load of this stuff (you have to take giant rips of it) and then quietly walking out of my room and closing the door. Don't ask me why, but do let us know how it goes...
I'd recommend Ketamine if you want to try something cool that won't hurt you... ;)

Boy, these new powered monitors I have hooked up to my computer are AWESEOME! As R. Lee Ermey might say, "That's 200 watts of whup-ass!"
And, as Roger Waters did say:
Dogs
You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.
And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.
You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older
And in the end you'll pack up, fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer.
And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest that you've sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down, alone
Dragged down by the stone.
I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?
Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.
Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a seat in the stand
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by stone
... every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and whose substance is that of an idol ...
