I'm A Drug Pusher!

I don't have time to give a detailed response this morning, but want to just add this - I think that mood and/or mind altering substances can enhance the quality of life, if used in moderation and with judgment. Our (non-LDS) society doesn't blink at using alcohol in this way (as long as it's in moderation), and I think there are other, natural substances that are actually safer than alcohol (which I think is safe and even healthy in moderation). I think it's a remnant of our puritanical roots (in the US) that we tend to view these substances as automatically being dangerous or having no value.
Just one example from my own life - about two years after I left the LDS church I started drinking in moderation (it took me that long to get over my LDS knee-jerk conditioned reaction to it). There are very few alcoholic drinks I like - mainly white zinfadel, gin and tonic, and hard lemonade. I love those three. I only drank on the weekends, Friday and Sat. night, and rarely had more than two glasses. I found it very relaxing. It made me more mellow and helped me unwind, and gave me just a slight buzz. I think it helped me detox after a week of slogging at work.
Last summer I was diagnosed with an inflammatory disorder that has plagued me (undiagnosed, thank you hapless medical community) for literally decades. One of the ways I have to deal with it is through a very restricted diet, because certain things irritate the disorder (almost like an allergic reaction). I have had to give up 80% of what I used to eat - chocolate, preservatives (which eliminates anything premade just about), most cheeses (one of my favorites), all fruits except pears, tomatoes, etc. etc etc.. and alcohol. Now I'm not complaining although it may sound like I am because the health benefits are incredible, it is way worth it. But out of all these things I had to give up - I miss my wine the most. Why? Because of the beneficial effects of the mood altering substance.
Human beings, throughout our entire history, have ALWAYS, ALWAYS sought to find and use mind and or mood altering substances. I think there's valid reasons for that. I'll share more of why later, after work.

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Wow, who knew that doing drugs was so darn cool?
Just wondering, but when y'all are procuring your drugs, what is it that switches off in your brain that makes you say, "Hey, this pusher on the street corner is totally trustworthy, and I have every assurance that I can confidently inject this perfectly safe substance into my body once I buy it from this complete stranger?"

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I've never injected anything into my body as in the way of needle -- I've ingested and inhaled. My first boyfriend dealt LSD and pot and then my roommates did (never paid for a drug in my life) and they knew where it came from and sampled it before selling or giving it to me. Later I got X from a male friend all the time and he always sampled his products. I would NEVER just go out and purchase something from a stranger -- never have, never would.
I have never said drugs are cool... I've never said people that do drugs are cool....

"Drugs" are not cool.
But in California we don't get our pot from a "pusher" on the street corner (Prop 215) and Ketamine is produced in a lab and sold in tamper proof vials to Veterinary clinics and eventually finds its way to teenagers in Orem Utah who have too much time on their hands.
My experiences with Ketamine were life changing, and I've never passed on grass, but most drugs- even legal ones like salvia - are pretty lame.
Equating every mind altering substance with injectables like heroin is what the Federal Government does... doesn't make much sense.

That's splitting hairs. You're still taking it into your body.

Ahh, so if the substance was cut wrong or tainted with God only knows what, then they would be the ones to die, not you.
Great plan!

Ahh, teenagers in Orem, Utah who have too much time on their hands. . . always a perfectly trustworthy source from whom to obtain your drugs!

Shades, do you consider Marijuana a hard drug? I would figure your libertarian leanings to be more accepting of such things.

Oh, I personally think that all drugs should be legalized. But as long as they're not, I'm in favor of obeying the law.
Plus I think that drugs are a bad idea all around anyway, illegal or otherwise.

Who on this thread has advocated the use of illegal drugs?
Do you think that alcohol is also a bad idea all around?
