I had an idea....no really!

Let's say a poster in the CF has written a topical post that contains inflammatory remarks. Here, I'll make one up that involves a poster, "Grinch".

"Grinch, this is just what I've come to expect from an anonymous coward such as yourself. Why do you put your real name on that post? Better yet, give me your location or the name of your Stake President and let's see what he thinks about your criticisms. So far you have given no proof of a connection between Rigdon and Smith prior to 1830. According to the evidence, Smith did not meet Rigdon until 1830. If you have proof to the contrary, please post it."

So...the moderator takes that quote, sends it to some other forum and does this with it:

Moderator Note: Moved due to non-Celestial content. Please feel free to remove inflammatory comments as noted in the bolded portion and repost in the Celestial.

That way, people can see clearly why it was moved and if they want to continue the personal attack they are free to do so. If they want to repost the challenge in the CF without the personal attack, they can do that as well.

What do you all think of that? I've given a copy of this to Shades for his consideration.

They are personal attack.

They discuss NO issue, no topic, and are quite irrelevant to the stated topic at the beginning of this thread.

It is precisely this kind of post which should be deleted.

If these posts stand in the “Celestial” group as do many other such posts which are personal attack by name entirely off topic of discussion on board management or a possible new kind of thread, moderation is a farce.

Does this second comment refer to the first inquiry? Are you implying that via my agreement with your assessment, I should have moved the personal attacks from this thread?

Most of the mod's have modified their profiles to read "Status: Moderator" as you suggested. Does that look alright?
