Is this an accreditation group or an accredited group?

Was it different before you moved to MS, Mercury? Does she miss her family and friends? Sorry... no real advice. :)

Yes, that's the contact person for your local affiliate of the NAEYC. National Association for the Education of Young Children. The largest national organization for ECE professionals in the country. They set the standard of quality for programs based on sound research and study in child development. They accredit programs nationwide.

NAEYC (National)
TAEYC (Tenn. State)
MAEYC (Memphis)

That contact person is the one to call for accredited programs in your area. You can also check your phone directory under "child care" "preschools" "nursery schools" and look for the NAEYC accredited programs.

Remember, you're looking for part day sessions only. That's all you need.

The search results that I posted above are not in your immediate location. You can call the contact person or check the phone directory for that.

A good early childhood program has the potential to positively impact not only the child but the whole family. It's a good thing!

I'd recommend no more than 2 mornings a week for your soon-to-be 3 year old to start with.

It really wasn't different. Hell, it wasn't different before the kids came.

Well, she just doesn't enjoy being a SAHM? I didn't either. I hated it! Despised it. When I started reciting Dr. Seuss to myself I knew my brain was fried. I did anything and everything I could to remind myself I was still a woman with desires, aspirations, dreams, etc... What are hers?

Mercury,

Your actual state affiliate doesn't have a board of directors in place at the moment. I can't say why. Try your phone directory or the contact in Memphis. I'd take a random guess that Memphis is taking their inquiries or can point you in the right direction.

Editing: Are there large corporations in your area? Bright Horizon's has a good reputation nationwide for quality coroporate childcare. You're going to find that the majority of programs will be church owned. Some will have spiritual curriculum components and others won't. Does your local college have a child development center? That's a possiblity since many campus programs are NAEYC accredited.

NAEYC accreditdation isn't the be all and end all, but it ensures quality. Infact, some programs who were previously accredited by NAEYC are giving up their accreditdation due to increasingly high standards that small programs are largely unable to meet. I'll search again for you tomorrow.

You can conduct your own online search here:

http://www.naeyc.org/academy/search/

If you just plug in your state, a long list will come up. Perhaps you'll find something in your area.
