W T F ??????

Post by _Scottie »

I went to Disneyland with the kiddo's this past week, and I noticed the sign as we were entering saying something to the effect that cancer and sterility causing chemicals have been found on the premises.

Now, what other place in the world could you post a large orange sign saying that you might get cancer if you come here, yet still packs the place every day?!?!

My other beef...there should be a law limiting gouging at theme parks to 1000x the original purchase price!!! We stopped to have a snack at a fruit cart, bought a sliced apple and some strawberries and 2 waters for $16!!!! That's like 37 cents worth of food!!! Are they seriously not making enough money with the $488 I had to pay for tickets for the 2 day pass??? I detest the greed corporations exhibit. I mean, I'm not saying don't charge for the food, but come on! This is just taking advantage of people!

I avoid Disneyland and Disneyworld. My parents take my kids (they're masochists, obviously) and they complain about the prices. They go to the coke place where it's cold and free beverages... they go there a lot when they visit. :)

It is a rip off. I prefer going to the beach or the mountains.

That's outrageous, Scottie! We went to D'land several years ago and I thought the food was total crap and way over priced!

We have a Six Flags nearby that has a water park and all sorts of things. Food prices aren't too bad and you can smuggle in your own if you want.

What is up with Disney anyway?

Yah, I like the waterpark at Six Flags. I prefer it to other theme parks -- if I must go to a themepark, that is. :)

Hey, Mickey and Dumbo are not working for peanuts anymore. Besides, there are plenty of golden parachutes and Disneyland Resort Paris to subsidize.

They're just being a respectable institution. Breathing in almost anything causes cancer and they're assuming you'll breathe while there.

Either that or this is a government plot to sterilize the kind of people who go to those theme parks. While normal, healthy well-adjusted people do go there, they are sadly a minority and are probably being written off as necessary losses.

I go to school a mile from a Six Flags....too bad I hate roller coasters and other type thrills (I prefer to read novels and drive 4 miles over the speed limit).

That's a Proposition 65 sign - essentially if there's anything that could cause any harm anywhere, there needs to be a sign. So like if you've got motor oil on the premises, you'd need a sign. Us Californians are stoopid sometimes.

We head down to D'land every year, and I'm amazed what we spend on food. One time, one of my kids was hungry and would only eat a banana. So I spent $2.50 on a freakin' banana. Add the $4.00 waters to that, and it's incredibly annoying.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.
