Now, what other place in the world could you post a large orange sign saying that you might get cancer if you come here, yet still packs the place every day?!?!
My other beef...there should be a law limiting gouging at theme parks to 1000x the original purchase price!!! We stopped to have a snack at a fruit cart, bought a sliced apple and some strawberries and 2 waters for $16!!!! That's like 37 cents worth of food!!! Are they seriously not making enough money with the $488 I had to pay for tickets for the 2 day pass??? I detest the greed corporations exhibit. I mean, I'm not saying don't charge for the food, but come on! This is just taking advantage of people!
If they charged less, more people would come and the lines would be longer. And it would stink of human filth. So be thankful. They're doing you a favor.

Either that or this is a government plot to sterilize the kind of people who go to those theme parks. While normal, healthy well-adjusted people do go there, they are sadly a minority and are probably being written off as necessary losses.
Well, clearly only wealthy people can go, so if the wealthy people no longer produce children the place will eventually be filled with lower classed people. What a great idea for a huge generation gap. I went to Yankee's yesterday, it is like a cheaper version of McDonalds. I was shocked, it was very unclean and one could barely see, the chicken was fake chicken. The strange thing is that it was a totally different class of people. I have never seen a class of people in one place before. They were all rough and definetly lower class. I hate to judge but anyone of higher class than that will notice a difference. It makes me feel better to know I am not like that.

I love Disneyland and Disney World! My girls really DO think it's the happiest place on earth. To me, Disney is worth every penny they charge!
We've been to Disneyland a few times, and Disney World, too. A year and a half ago, we went to Disney World and stayed seven days and bought the meal plan, which originally seemed expensive, but turned out to be a great deal for us. I kept the receipts for our food, just to see how much we would have spent eating there without the meal plan. Remember, there are six of us, and we ate almost every night at an expensive sit-down restaurant. We had steak, French food, breakfast in Cinderella's castle, went to a luau and more, so our food total will seem astronomical to some folks. The total? Just under $1800.00. The total cost of the meal plan was right at $1,000.00, so I think it we got a great deal!
Again, to me, Disney is worth every penny. We're going to Disney World next year when Annie is big enough to ride all the rides. Hopefully, we'll add a few days on a Disney cruise to our package.

I have to agree. For all my bitching about the prices, my kids had an absolute BLAST at Disneyland!!
Although with the 4 year old, we were stuck in Storybook Land almost the whole time. I hate that place.
Both of my kids loved Autopia the best. We had to go on that twice.

My girls used to like DisneyWorld. My parents took them each year when they were about 5 years old and on up. I don't go. I went to DisneyLand in Japan all the time when I lived there. When I visited my godparents in Florida I'd go to DisneyWorld a lot with them. I recall one day when I looked up at my godmother and told her I'd rather be on her boat that this immense look of relief come over her face! :)
The last time my parents took the kids was this last year and they actually left early 'cause the kids were ready to go to the beach. When I got the phone call that my kids preferred Turtle Beach (see below) to the theme park I was internally singing Hallelujah and pumping my fist in glee!
We do this every year.

Private beach. Boiled shrimp for dinner, lounging on a hammock, sitting on the beach as the sun falls and rises -- no PEOPLE. Heaven!
If there is a hell, and I'm sent there, it will be DisneyWorld.

I looked at the link! Oh, I love that idea! Let's do a thread on vacation destinations...I'll start one now.

Pirate, I disagree with your assessment. Wealthy people tend to NOT go there. I don't blame them. Country Club or Skydiving or golf versus long lines with very odd people.
My brother once pulled off a brilliant coup once. His friend (an actor) and him and two other friends went to Six Flags. The friend acted like he had a fatal illness and got in a wheelchair. They all got Make A Wish foundation T-shirts and said that this was his final wish.....to go to a theme park with kids his age. NO WAITING whatsoever. They tried waiting in line once and were pushed ahead by the other people in line. BRILLIANT!!!!
