Gas prices

Post by _Bond...James Bond »

Gas prices continue to climb...and it's time for your horror stories.

I live in an area where gas prices are only 3.75 and I really dislike it. I totally empathize with those of you in California and other places.

I think they currently have Effected me somewhat, but it's going to continue to get worse I think.

So far the effect is "somewhat." I consolidate errands, don't visit my mom as much (it would cost nearly $20 to visit her), and I patronize stores based more on geography (what's closest) than what I like (I hope to see you again soon, Trader Joe's).

I filled up today since I was getting low (only a couple gallons left in the tank) and I wanted to get some gas before the price rose again. I paid $3.91/gallon. That was more than $60 to fill up. I almost cried a little.

Last time I put gas in I actually stopped the pump before the tank was full, because I was so annoyed at paying $3.89 a gallon. Guess I should get used to it.

But did you hear that Shell's parent company had a PROFIT of $9 BILLION last quarter? Go oil!

I paid $4.09 today. I'm getting a Prius.

Holy crap! You paid over 4 bucks for gas! Time for me to get a bicycle.

Yes it's outrageous!

side note - I'm thirsty, time to go spend $1.25 on a 20 oz bottle of water from the vending machine.

Lucky for me, Trader Joe's is within walking distance of my place.

Tomorrow is the start of Bike to work month. I plan on biking for all of it. Hey, I did more on my mission and if old Dutch ladies can do it, I can do it too.

As for how gas prices effect me, well, since I never drive to work it doesn't directly effect me much. However, since gas is tied to food prices I do feel a bit in that direction.

Yeah, the gas prices are insane.

I filled my tank yesterday and it was a little over $60.00. Yikes!

Gas prices haven't changed my driving habits, but I'm sure glad my car gets fairly good gas mileage.

My wife drives a Suburban with a 40 gallon tank. Its over $120.00 to fill it up.

Its so fun to drive to St. George to visit her parents. I try to explain to her that it costs a fortune and we don't need to go every month.

I don't own a car anymore, partly because of the gas prices. When they come out with something alternative, affordable, and reliable, maybe I'll look at reinvesting in one. In the meantime, my bicycle does me just fine for the most part.
