Love

Post by _Moniker »

Too much personal information. Shouldn't post early in the morning.... or in the afternoon..... or in the evening. :)

After we hung up the phone I had that feeling that you get when you hold a new born babe in your arms -- the world is right.

That's what love is. Someone that knows your flaws and doesn't care. Knows your past and doesn't care. Sees you change and doesn't care. I wish I loved as much as he does. I want to be able to do that. Or perhaps, with him, I already do? I'm not certain. Is it enough to have someone love you and love them for that? I don't know.

This is a great post, Mon. It's a little heartbreaking. I am in a similar situation with a girl I've known for 11 years. We're best friends. I've wanted it to be more but she doesn't. She tells me she loves me, but it's not a romantic or sexual love. Maybe it's a higher love, I don't know. In the past year, I've realized that I need to accept the relationship for what it is. It's been difficult.

Poor Dan. Unable to get married and settle down 'cause he's still in love with you.

Silentkid, I think it's hard for all involved in friendship where one wants more. I was young and took him for granted -- and hurt him, because I was selfish. As a young woman it became difficult for me to know what to do when I appreciated male friends and recognized at some point that they were being hurt by our friendships. I didn't want to lose them as friends, yet, were they being hurt by it in some way? I had to learn that to be a good friend sometime meant recognizing that it wasn't fair to one party to be in love and the other party to just keep them around for an ego boost or friendship. I'm totally honest with any male friends now and if they want more I am upfront about not being in love with them and tell them if they need us to stop being friends (although I don't want to lose their friendship!) or to stop talking that I understand what it feels like to be hurt and I don't want to hurt anyone! It gets complicated. Quickly, at times.

I like to think of it in terms of a higher love. Glad you have that. :)

Shades, He doesn't settle down and get married 'cause he doesn't want to. He's a bachelor, has a bunch of 20 something year old babes that are constantly coming and going and is enjoying his life. Don't feel sorry for him! Hahaa! :)

It's just nice to get to that point in a male female relationship where both parties recognize that nothing is going to happen, there is no romantic love and yet, they can be friends anyway.

Sometimes that can't happen. Some guys (or women) get possessive, jealous, etc.. and it won't work.
