Jersey Girl and Moniker are both having problems with the link. Is anyone else having trouble?

Sounds a little tinny, Miss Liz. As we used to say in "da hood", ya need to drop that bass. Nothing but mids and highs. My sub didn't even twitch.

Yeah, I know. I'm afraid that's probably more my piano. LOL. The recording is live. I'm playing and singing at the same time. I didn't split out the tracks (instrumental on one and vocal on the other) I may go back and do that. You're right about it needing a rounder sound quality.

I'm not a sound engineer by any means, but you might want to consider multiple tracks at least for recording multiple mics. Go ahead and have the musicians play the song, but place two or maybe three mics at different positions on the piano to catch it's sound better along with the mic for the singer.

Other then the lack of depth I dug it. That style of music isn't my usual cup of tea though. I'm more of a metalhead... been on a huge symphonic/progressive metal kick lately, mostly focusing on bands with female vocalists like Pre-Tarja split Nightwish, Ambion, Stream of Passion, etc. If you like some good power metal with operatic female vocals you should give some of it a listen. Stream of passion does a cover of Zeppelin's "When The Levy breaks" that kicks 97.999 shades of butt.

Thanks! :) That means a lot coming from someone who isn't really into that style of music. I know that Musical Theater isn't everyone's preference, but "Wicked" is a pretty popular musical. LOL

I'm not really into metal, but it would be interesting to hear the vocals you mentioned. If you've got a YouTube link, I'll listen. ;)

Well, I don't know about all that techie stuff but I loved the recording! How'd you learn to do that? You are somethin' else lady! I mean like, wow!

Awww...you're sweet. Music has been my life for as long as I can remember. I feel like I've kind of come full circle with it. I got my BA in Music Performance, and then later got my MS in Computer Science. Now that I'm doing more with music again, I kind of feel like I've come "home".

But, the computer knowledge has also really helped me from a music standpoint as well.

I've been singing since I was 3. I sang in choirs and musicals all through High School. I didn't do any type of formal private training until I went to college.

It's an ongoing process. I teach voice, but I also still study. I have a vocal coach who I study with on a regular basis and work on technique with.

The recording is actually something I'm sending to her. I've been working on a technique to be more in control of my vibratto, particularly for Musical Theater/Pop style singing. I was trying a few things, and wanted her to hear. That's why I didn't really worry too much about a lot of the technical aspects as far as perfect tracks, etc.

Edited to add---I'm working on a joint recital with one of my students. We're also going to be recording a CD. When that happens, I'm sure I will be bugging all of you guys like Dr. Steuss and Ren for advice. LOL
