Casimir Pulaski Day is my favorite of the bunch.

It's so touching.

"In the morning at the top of the stairs
When your father found out what we did that night
And you told me you were scared."

Casimir Pulaski was a Revolutionary War hero. I remember his name from a college class I took on the Revolutionary War, but I didn't remember much else. I looked him up on Wiki and he was a Polish (obviously) military commander who trained a calvary unit during the Revolutionary War under the direction of George Washington. He was well known for his bravery.

He died on October 11th, 1779 in the Battle of Savannah.

Apparently, Casimir Pulaski Day is celebrated in several states, and on differing dates. Some states celebrate it on October 11th, but in Illinois, it's celebrated on March 1st, the date mentioned in Sufjan's lovely song.

WTF was that??
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Lovely. Thanks.

Ghostland Observatory was here last week, free in Prospect Park. Outdoor laser show!

Certainly not Wink, I fear. Weird Americana. Stevens plays the majority of the instruments on the Come on Feel the Illinoise album, by the way.

And, as KA points out, Illinois does indeed celebrate Pulaski day on March 1.

He certainly has his moments. I don't know of a better way to describe the suddenness of the girl's death than

"In the morning, when you finally go
and the nurse runs in with her head hung low,
and the cardinal hits the window."

He's eccentric, to be sure.

The grown women were also wearing them. As well as the khaki uniforms.
