Does Satan still rule the waters?

Temptation for missionaries should be avoided when you know where you can stop them. Not having missionaries at beaches or other bodies of water makes sense. There is no reason for missionaries to be there. They can talk to people at other places where people are wearing more clothing. Remember missionaries are just ‘kids’, most just out of High School, with raging hormones.

The reason Missionaries don't swim is the state of dress at most swimming locations.

It's not. The rule is in the White Handbook. It gives no justification. Any given is an invention. Using this rule to suggest that Satan rules the waters and can murder missionaries if they go near it would also create new questions? Is full-court basketball also favored by Satan? How bout the other activities prohibited?

If Satan's rule over the waters constituted imminent danger you'd think members would also be counseled to avoid swimming and water sports. Surely Missionaries aren't denied spiritual protection the average member does not have. In any case, it's lunch break time and I'm off to the pool.

It is totally absurd to believe that Satan rules the waters because we all know that Satan lives in Hell which is a really hot place, full of fire and brimstone and lava and sweat and stuff and water is used to put out fires and to quench thirst and Satan would have nothing to do with something that would put out his evil flames. Besides, Satan doesn't even know how to swim and if he were in the ocean or a swimming pool, he would surely drown. If anyone rules the waters, it is Michael Phelps.

According to my limited understanding of ancient Hebrew theology, Satan (in the form of the monster Rahab) has ruled the waters of chaos from the beginning of the world . . . a very old and little known thread of Hebrew belief which may have ties to the D&C revelation being discussed, and to which Jacob alludes in the Book of Mormon.

I find it interesting that what was taught us by General Authorities in talks specifically geared to 'the elect of God' can't be supported now. Why tell lies in support of 'the truth'?

If you lie to me about the little things why would you think I would believe the big things? When I find out you are lying to me I am worse off than if I had never believed in the first place.

It is a lot like the 'symbols of Satans priesthoods' which used to be actual symbols on his apron in the Temple. Try to find those old aprons now. Not the earlier Masonic ones, but the ones from the 50's and 60's that had symbols easily recognized as being used by other churches, christian and moslem. Where are they now? Does the Church even have the 'all churches are wrong' display on Temple Rectangle any more?

We won't even get into the business dealings, lies on the Main Street theft or Paul Dunn and Marion D Hanks wife beating.
