Search on the incoherent posts of SUAS and you'll see one of the posters that I choose to ignore without having to wade through their anti-intellectual vomit.

SUAS doesn't bother me. Isn't SUAS coffeecat? I liked coffeecat. What is there to wade through with her posts, anyway?

There is a lot of anti-intellectual vomit on the board. Some of it actually tries to come off as intellectual, but isn't. At least SUAS isn't trying to fool anyone. ;)

It's not directly related to the ignore feature, but more on ostracism in general (there is one fleeting reference to exclusion in internet chat rooms).

Really, though, isn't it semantics? If I don't read someone's posts as a general rule, what is the difference between that and having a piece of software help me do that? Is there some requirement that I must read everybody's posts on a thread? If not, than I'm glad to have the assistance of the board to weed out the static.

With that said, I think it's damn rude to put a list of people you're ignoring in your sig line. That's juvenile and vindictive.

I don't know, Skip. Of course there isn't a requirement, and I respect you enough to know you are probably using the ignore feature for good reason. On the other hand I saw Nehor respond to a thread of Porter's saying "This has been brought to you by people who nitpick everything the church says..."

He's commenting on his thread, while announcing in his sigline that he is ignoring the person who started the thread. He likely couldn't even read the original post - or most of the responses in it - and just wanted to rub his stink on the thread and run off.

This is the kind of social exclusion the Mormon church wallows in. In fact, they've patented the ignore feature long before the internet. Get labeled an anti-mormon and you can be sure that Mormon's will ignore you.

With that said, I think it's damn rude to put a list of people you're ignoring in your sig line. That's juvenile and vindictive.

I don't know how I'll manage, knowing that I'm on Nehor's ignore list. It's literally killing me. I couldn't sleep at all last night. I kept waking up, tossing and turning, with thoughts of neglected posts. At one point I started to fall asleep and finally dream, but it quickly turned into a horrible nightmare. I had written an incredibly rich and witty post, and it was all set for Nehor to read. He sat down at his computer, and I could see my post on his screen. I was ecstatic - and then he turned around in his swivel computer chair to reveal a Jeff Daniels look-alike face with no eyes.

I awoke in a cold sweat and have been throwing up all morning.

by the way - how about them Dodgers? Not too bad thus far, eh ;)

This made me laugh.

Nehor's not the only one with the exclusion list in his sig - PP is doing the same thing. I feel like I am transported back to junior high school when I see that kind of stupidity.

Prepare to be swept, my friend. They couldn't even take a series from the woeful Giants, who were fielding a team consisting predominantly of rookies. I want to see Jeff Kent and his pornstache fail. I want to see Manny and his stoopid satin-y doo-rag covering his girly pigtails fail. I don't think I've ever rooted for the Cubs, but I will be today.

If I ignored people, I would be denying myself some of the very best in free entertainment. Beats soaps and game shows.

What is the reason or benefits of having a friends list? What does the friends list do?

It allows you to specify only a few people who are allowed to read your weblog (if you have one).

Shades,

Does the friends list also mean those are the only people whose posts you can read? Like a reverse foes list?
