No, it's not. The Commander in Chief is ordering the SecDef to do things, and the SecDef is ordering
Generals to do things. If the Commander in Chief is issuing orders to individual battalions, something's already wrong with the system. Ordering battalions around is the job of Colonels or, at most, Brigadier Generals, who are the lowest grade of Generals in the US military.

Are you really arguing that the Commander in Chief has to know literally everything about the military?

This just isn't even a serious question. The President could have literally no clue about the difference between a battalion and a brigade, without his advisers having to tell him/her, and it would make no difference in the performance and mission of the armed forces.

by the way, Aftershock, do you know the difference between a Platoon Sergeant and a Sergeant First Class? If you say no, then how the hell do you call yourself an American?!?
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Not every is as naïve as you're being, Trevor. She was selected in ignorance because she did not tell them about her upcoming book. Otherwise she never would have been chosen.

This isn't the first vp debate the woman has moderated. Just thought I throw that in there because it seems that some may be under the impression that her selection was something new.

And what is that "slippery" standard? That someone tell an untruth with the intent to deceive. Wow.

To observe that politicians lie by my definition is tantamount to conceding that human beings breathe.

OK, time for predictions on the debate.

I predict Biden will win, in more ways than one.

I kind a get a kick out of the way some of these libs in the media are talking about how Palin is a "formidable" debate opponent, after all these weeks talking about how she is as dumb as a stump.

I guess they're just covering their asses in case Palin pulls off an upset, by whatever chance in hell that might be.

as i noted elsewhere (http://lifeonapl8.blogspot.com/2008/10/ ... night.html)

Biden will still have that really weird looking haircut that looks like a solid block of crooked hair has been balanced on his head, mostly to the back. It's like a weird, solid gray mullett or something.

Palin will be in her most powerful powersuit, glasses glimmering and lipstick apparent.

Biden will spend a lot of time talking- not about Palin- but about John McCain and George W. Bush. He's supposed to stick to the message that a vote for McCain is a vote for 4 more years of Bush policies.

Palin will likely focus on Obama's earmark requests and lack of executive experience in comparison to her own. I don't see her attacking Biden, either, I see her as more likely to continue the message of her being the new, fresh face, the kid who will join Maverick McCain in cleaning up all those dirty Washington po9litics, reduce spending, and reduce government.

I have no idea who will come off better in this one.

Well, yes, I think the COMMANDER in Chief should know how HIS military is organized. Der.

And yes, I know the difference between a SFC and a Platoon Sergeant. In fact, you're kind of showing your ass right now since a SFC is usually a PS. Double der.

So what did you think about the debate?
