What an idiotic thing to say, BC. General Powell is one of the most esteemed men in the U.S. government and the U.S. military. I saw the interview on "Meet the Press". Did you?

Did you LISTEN to anything he actually had to say? Obviously not.

When Powell expresses (very moderate) conservative values and then goes on to endorse one of the most left-wing politicians running for President ever, when he goes on to brush aside the Ayers and ACORN association as if it were meaningless, then what has happened is that Powell has reduced himself to just another black person voting for a black person.

That, or your estimation of the issues themselves is flawed and *gasp* you have been overreacting and buying into faulty criticism.

I'll bet I've got more friends who are black than anyone on this board who accuses me of racism has friends. And that includes anyone who may actually be black.

BC- I'd be interested in talking to a few of your black friends. PM me some contact information and we'll see what they think of many of your comments here.

Powell is usually smarter than that. It's just another black person voting for another black person just because he's black.

Wrong post. But this particular one is racist how?

Racism aside, it's flat out idiotic, and contradicted by the man himself.

This is hilarious. We have Utahn f***nuzzles pontificating about racism. Yeah, ok. *winks and thumbs up*

Tarski,

What I'm proposing is that you and your ilk, pick up and move to an actual diverse place and live our your utopian dream that you have for everyone else.

Of course you won't do it because your homogenous existence is too nice to leave, but you sure as crap don't have a problem with telling others how reality really is for everyone outside your lily white world.

You don't know what you're talking about precisely because you don't live it. Assholes.

It's LOL funny when people, in an attempt to defend against the charge of racism, claim that they regularly associate with black people, as though that somehow proves they aren't racist.

If that were the case, then none of the slave owners or the southerners begging for segregation were racist, because they were around black people all the time.

It's like saying, "How can you accuse me of hating liver? I work in a meat cutting plant all the time. I've seen more liver than you ever will in your lifetime. Come work in a meat plant, and you'll understand what liver is really all about. Only then will you know why liver is the way it is."

I consulted for a company whose staff was about 90% black for about six months, and part of the job was regularly fielding their questions and solving their problems. I remember coming away from that experience thinking what I had always thought of all races: there are really nice folks and assholes in every race. Skin color means nothing.

Hate to break it to you racist folks, but exposure to a particular race does not exclude you from bigotry toward them, no matter how much you wish it to be so. It's the way you regard them, not exposure to them, that informs your view. Save the proximity argument for... well, yourself, I guess. Nobody else is buying it (unless they're racist too, because for them, it should make perfect sense). It might work on Sarah Palin too. Being close to something seems to make her think expertise is inevitable as well.

There's only one demographic I'm bigoted against: stupid, dishonest people. I don't hate them, but I don't want to be around them either, and I certainly don't want them leading the country (not saying McCain is stupid or entirely dishonest, but his running mate sure is). I'd like to see Obama in there mostly because he's the smarter guy.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Antishock, darling, you know I love you, but please refrain from using the F word outside of the Telestial Forum. I hate editing posts.

On another note.. That poster made me literally laugh out loud. ;)
