Hello,

Here is Alma Chapter Seven, Verses Nine and Ten:

Alma 7:9-10:

[9] But behold, the Spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying -- Repent ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight; for behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the Son of God cometh upon the face of the earth.

[10] And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

Hi Liz,
When I was younger I had asked fellow members why Mormons put so much emphasis on Jesus as the only begotten Son of God. I didn't understand what they were implying.
When they carefully shared with me the LDS doctrine that God had sex with Mary, I was stunned.
They wouldn't overtly say those words, but gave me the old milk before meat discussion while explaining it and said God created Jesus the same way we create earthly bodies.

I don't see why God would be limited to sexual intercourse in creating Jesus.
If mere mortals can create test tube babies, I think God should be able to find a way to avoid incestual relations with his daughter.

I've read information on Catholics who view Mary as our Heavenly Mother. (but not as God's wife as Mormons believe)

Hi Seven,

Here is the 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon, From First Nephi Chapter 11, Verse 18:

1 Nephi 11:18:

[18] And he said unto me, Behold, the virgin which thou seest, is the mother of God, after the manner of the flesh.

Now, Here is the 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon, From First Nephi Chapter 11, Verse 21:

1 Nephi 11:21:

[21] And the angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Eternal Father! Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw?

You're right. It doesn't. Incest is incest.

But not all incest is abhorent. You're simply reacting to our societal conditioning. Evolutionist or Creationist, one must come to terms with it at some point.

You really don't want to go down this road. Using this type of reasoning could excuse any type of immoral act.

Not all rape is abhorent. You are responding to societal conditioning.

Not all infidelity is abhorent. You are responding to societal conditioning.

Not all physical and sexual abuse is abhorent. You are responding to societal conditioning.....

Here is again Alma Chapter Seven, Verse Ten:

Alma 7:10:

[10] And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

Here is the Cross Reference Verse to the word virgin:

1 Nephi 11:13:

[13] And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities. And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.

Now, here are the Cross Reference Verses to the word conceive:

Matthew 1: 20: (KJV):

[20] But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Mosiah 15:3:

[3] The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son—

And, Here is Luke Chapter One, Verses 32 through 35:

Luke 1:32-35: (NKJV):

32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

How so? I'm certainly not excusing all incest. It IS true that your societal conditioning is causing you to not accept it when it is.

I don't see why God would be limited to sexual intercourse in creating Jesus.
If mere mortals can create test tube babies, I think God should be able to find a way to avoid incestual relations with his daughter.

Sure? But what about Adam and Eve? What was available to them?
