Maybe the prophets today do not come out and state that they have seen Jesus Christ is because they haven't!
That is an excellent point. I have no reason to believe that President Packer has conversed with Jesus face to face. If he wants to make a claim and bear testimony of that claim then I can reconsider my opinion of the matter. But for now, I hardly think the brethren intertain the resurrected Lord in their private meetings. These accounts today don't compare to the divine visitations Joseph Smith enjoyed or, claimed.

Maybe they are more concerned about their pensions and retirement accounts. They probably have more stored up in the bank then the rest of the poor working people of the church.
Interesting comments. To this point attempting to explain what to us are really figments of imagination, by whatever cause and for whatever purpose. As yet no one has come forth with a like experience. Conclusion (mine), there is hope! Truth IS prevailing! Roger * *
Have you noticed what a beautiful day it is? Some can't... "God": nick-name for the Universe...
It cannot be true, because we do not resurrect into perfect eternal skin suits appearing like earth bound homo sapiens with bones, flesh, hair and the rest of our bodies adapted for terrestial conditions in a very specific set of chemical and biological variables that we find ourselves in this particular geological earth epoch. It is so nonsensical if you step back and look at the big picture and our insignificance in the universe, that it should cause uproarious laughter, that anyone, much less one claiming to speak to an eternal God, would be so utterly human-centric in their thinking.
The dinosaurs were the dominant terrestial vertibrate for over 160 million years, so, what if the dinosaurs had evolved with larger brains and made a dinosaur's God in their image with a dinosaurs savior resurrected with a dinosaurs body, replete with scales, sharp teeth, powerful hind legs, hollow bones, etc etc.? What use could a perfect God have need of hollow bones, sharp serrating teeth and scales you ask? Exactly the same need the same God would need of human bones, human skin or molars...nothing.
The chasm between what religion tells us about the world compared to what science shows and reveals to us has created a divergence as large as the universe itself.

Why would they be? Apostles don't get to retire. If they're looking for a relaxed life of ease with a lot of money they picked the wrong job.
"Surely he knows that DCP, The Nehor, Lamanite, and other key apologists..." -Scratch clarifying my status in apologetics "I admit it; I'm a petty, petty man." -Some Schmo
Whether or not the brethren have had one those Bible-like, concrete encounters with the divine, one need not go back much further than the Smoot hearings to see that there are good reasons not to share it openly. Not to say they have or haven't, but it could further impede the current objective of respectability, affect the church's ability to get into certain countries, further prevent a Mormon president from being elected etc.

You could defend your position from certain points of view, that is true. But, there are a lot of views, Nehor. Those apostles live deliciously and you're paying for it.
