It is preferred and no dangerous jungle to come unto Christ alone. You are like a thief trying to break in through the back door. Stop it. Christ is right there in front of you knocking on the door. If you open the door he will receive you. It is not a trip.
Consider the build up of spiritual desire to know God, save his soul, and solve the disunity of his family that brought Joseph Smith into the Sacred Grove with full purpose of heart and a heart of great faith. That is the precise way to approach the Lord and he opens to us.
1820 county life is not in our present age. There are problems today that have chained our faith and disguised pride in ways that people are not aware of. This is why I needed to learn from forty years of exile and wanting to solve the problem of false faith and deceitful devotion that plagues people who want to be godly.
it would be very odd if Smith didn't use entheogens himself, considering his obsession with native americans, and the natives prevelant use of herbs, incuding mushrooms and peyote. Also, Smith was very involved in magic. Magic mushrooms and peyote are considered powerful magic potions. This is another reason it would be very odd if Smith didn't partake. More likely he did, also considering the first vision account is very much like a common entheogenic expeirience:
At fourteen years old. Do you really think so?
I think God utilizes his creations and servants as tools to help us. He doesn't need to do all the work himself, if he has delegated it to others. This is much more efficient and makes more sense.
Actually, from a pantheistic perspective, these servants are merely different manifestations of God anyway.
I am trying not to tic you off, but you refuse to see Christ. What ever is not of him, and by him, shall be shaken and destroyed. So we need to be of him. That is how we got this far. What did not get this far is that jungle you are wont to slog through. The gospel is taking upon us the name of Jesus Christ with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and waiting upon the Lord in the depths of humility until we have fully subjected our heart, might, mind and strength to the scepter of Christ.

My claim is that I do not have perfect knowledge, I only have faith. I do not believe you have perfect knowledge either. You only have experiences that give you faith, but you claim that those experiences give you perfect knowledge. I contest that if you looked at your own experiences critically then you would likely be as agnostic as I am. My agnosticism comes from humility and not pridefully thinking I know what reality is or I have it all figured out just because of some miracles.
What I know is consistent with the witness of what others knew and recorded in Holy Scripture. I refuse that knowledge proves a lack of humility and a huge ego.
If they could talk and express themselves would not the babies in every crib revolt against the lack of humility and ego centric adults who act like they know everything yet obviously have no clue to the bliss of innocence? But ah, come on now.

I took LSD at age fifteen, and became one with everything in the universe. I became the great I AM. I AM everything. Everything that ever was, is or will be. This state of mind in Hindu teaching is called Atman Brahman, to my knowlege. Merging with the universe, becoming one with God. This was a spiritual experience.
That would explain why you have no need of Christ.
Do I believe this pantheistic veiw to be reality? No, I am agnostic, all I can say is what I experienced, becasue I have also exeprienced the burning in the bosom reading the Bible and Book of Mormon. I also felt that same feeling listening to a song by The Who the other day. Interesting how that works. The Spirit works in mysterious ways. Actually, I have also had answers to my prayers directily since I have apostized to agnosticism. Funny how that works too. I have had more answers than when I was Mormon.
I am somewhat confused. You merged with the infinite but now you doubt yourself and thereby you doubt God?
My greenie missionary companion disrespected The WHO and I made him send his guitar home. He he he.
Burning in the bosom is a residual of the Holy Ghost and it is nothing to be compared with the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost.
Jim Morrison took LSD at age 16 and started a revolution in artistic music that was spiritual in nature. Many of us have, my friend.
Have you some unique music. Cool. Me too. See below.
Joseph was in the sticks and not in this modern world filled with "the evil designs that do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men."
I feel comfortable with the truths I know, and am not offended if they are challenged, however, I do get annoyed when they are ignorantly dismissed and left unrefuted.
You think you got science behind spiritual experience, right? Chemicals I suppose are science sure. But you stretch credulity concluding that you connect with God. If its a watered down everything anything God fine. Be happy with that.

I was high on acid, why wouldn't I dout the meaning? The problem with chemical enlightenment is that you can't take it with you when you come down. Therefore, the meaning and significance of it is lost to an extent, and you are left to integrate what you experienced with what normal everyday reality is. Spiritual experiences can have many interpretations. Just by having one does not mean I have the correct interpretation or understand it completely, especially after I have come down.
I get it. If there is not actual residual that you can keep does it not figure that it was not real. I did not think that I had actually seen the Pirates of the Caribbean after that Disney trip either.
But more pointedly I understand. If God is with you going in God is with you throughout.
I drank whiskey and beer as a teen. At one party where I drank so much I puked and passed out, I realized that deep within me was this soul that yearned to teach people about love and how to get it right. I sat down with every woman and explained to them how it was and how it worked.
I forgot what I said but some of the girls remembered and it made an impression. That was the first inkling that there was more to me than an emerging rocker. I think chemicals can only reveal you to you. If God is part of you there you go.
I did not ultimately discover and accomplish a real and true relationship with God through alcohol. It came the same as it has come to every saint written of in scripture. Christ is the way and the truth and the light. Come unto Christ and be born of him, take his name upon you with full purpose of heart in the solemnity of prayer, days of reflective repentance and striving to be forgiving and charitable, and more prayer and taking no thought for your life, while you are in the way of coming unto Christ. That is the best you can do.
