Has your wife apologized for the comment?
Do you feel like she still harbors or means what she said? If she simply said it in anger to get back at you, she likely didn't mean it.
Have you considered counseling? It might help to talk to someone neutral about your feelings.

She did apologize a few days later. I forgave her. She told me it was in anger. I believe her. She was the only one that could wound me that way. She does not fully understand the extent of the damage. Getting some counseling is being considered.

Profound. Thank you Ezias.

I have a lot more questions and would love to read and comment more but this is a little humiliating. I get the feeling this forum is really not for people like me. It is great if you already took the leap, but for those at the beginning with lots of questions - it is not the place. 95% of the population is completely on the other side of the fence and way ahead of me. MAD is not the place either because everything is closed down. Is there a forum for beginners with lots of questions? And maybe for those that might be a little sentimental/ unsarcastic about their beliefs?
...another reason lots of people stay in the church I guess... it is too lonely.
See ya.

It might be a troll sock puppet of the Zockpuppet, zeezrom.
Huh, a troll of a troll...
[MODERATOR NOTE by Shades: Polygamy-Porter, please do not accuse someone of being a sock puppet in the Celestial Forum.
Not only that, but just because someone is a beginner does not automatically mean that he/she is a troll.]
Zeezrom, you are just as welcome here as is anyone else. Remember that accusations of trollhood or sock puppetry have come from one person only, not the whole community.
I respectfully suggest that you evaluate this forum by the law of averages.
I hereby invite and encourage you to stay.

Hey, Logan....I have another question. You may have answered it in the thread, and I just don't remember. I apologize, if that's the case.
Would you mind telling me approximately where you live? Are you in Utah? or closer to the East Coast?
The reason I ask is that the culture of the Church is slightly different in these areas. I know that the Church members I associated with in Utah were completely different from the Church members I associate with now in NC.
If you are in Utah, I pity you. That would make it much more difficult for you to get over this "non-mission" stigma.

I’m in Utah. I’ve experienced the difference in mentality in southern California. Oh, I wish it was like that here in Utah but without the traffic on the 405.

I'm a California girl, myself. I grew up in Northern California. We California Mormons aren't so bad. LOL
We lived in Utah for almost 8 years when we first got married. The people in our Ward made me wonder if we were even on the same planet. The judgmentalism was so horrible.
When we moved to North Carolina, Church members were more as I had remembered them being growing up. They were polite. They knew how to say "please" and "thank you", and showed genuine appreciation for the things that you did.

I live in Utah and don't experience any "non-mission" stigma. I know several men who have not served missions who also don't experience it.
Again, maybe this is just about personal attitude.
