I'd have to say yes. While seer stones of the occult would come in a close second, this topic (The Sarah Ann Whitney letter) is a clear cut smoking gun. Joe Smith was cheating on his wife and the only condition he states it is not safe is if his wife was there. The Mormons will paint some made up story of evil doers, and since the letter instructs them to burn it we get a clear insight into who Joe Smith was. The answer to the question is yes... Emma was being deceived by her husband, supposedly while he knew for a fact God was watching his every move.

Joseph was fond of lying when it suited his needs and it always astonishes me to see him getting a free pass with his dishonesty.

Theories pass. The frog remains.

Joseph Smith lived a lie. Everything about his life was centered and surrounded by lies. Deception was his main character. I don't believe anything Joseph Smith said. Throw the baby and the water out!
The man creeps me out.
