I expected that, if his connection to me were known to certain critics of mine, he would be subjected to public criticism, insults, and derision that he would not encounter if his relationship with me remained private.

Maybe you need to ask yourself why.

Re: Guilt by Kinship?
Hello,
When people act out it is precisely because of what they're seeing. Had Mr. Peterson been a kind and charitable scholar the reaction from "critics" or what-have-you would certainly be different. This is basic common sense, or In other words, what Momma would teach you.
I find it interesting that Mr. Peterson, although attempting to change his persona by sticking to the Celestial forum (kudos & huzzah to you, Sir), still can't resist making things personal, or about himself.
What's my recommendation? Stay on point. Stick to the subject material. Be kind and generous. No passive-aggressive behavior. Over time people's perception of this man will change. The benefits to his "kin" should be obvious to all concerned.

If I ever did it, I surely don't remember it. Advancing age, I suppose?
Wow. Really?
What a dishonest, disingenuous thing to say. Of course you know where you publicly boasted about your son's two articles. Are you calling me a liar?

Deny that you've promoted the articles on the Internet and I will gladly post some links as a rebuttal.

Re: Guilt by Kinship?
I take it from this game you're playing that you would really, really, really love to prove me a liar. It's good to be ambitious, I suppose.
I don't recall promoting my son's two articles anywhere in any public place on the Web in any way -- and this is the crucial point, of course -- that would identify their author as my son. I made a conscious decision not to do so, knowing full well that certain types of people would eagerly mistreat him because of their hatred for me. (This expectation wasn't theoretical; both my children and my wife have been abused and maligned on the Internet before because of their association with me. And, plainly, it wasn't mistaken in this instance, either.)
I did mention them on two private e-lists to friends of mine, but that, I think, doesn't count as public. And, anyway, it seems unlikely to be your source.
I think I probably "liked" them on Facebook, or something of that sort. But that wouldn't have "outed" their author as my son. He could have been my brother, my father, my cousin, or merely one of the thousands upon thousands of Peterson's out there who are completely unrelated to me.
So I remain mildly curious as to your source.

There's the DCP I know! Don't you change a bit. Anyways, it doesn't take three paragraphs to say "Yes, I deny promoting my son's articles on the Internet," or "No, now that I think about it, you're right."

I'm going to need a more definitive denial from you first. Did you, or didn't you promote the articles written by your son publicly on the Internet? So I remain mildly curious as to your source.
And I remain mildly curious as to your reason for denying such a thing.

Where did I publicly out my son on the Internet, so as to legitimize your bringing him up as a target for venom and mockery here?
