Are you claiming that Joseph didn't charge money for pretending to see hidden treasure?

At his age, I bet all of us tried something to make some $$$.
But then this attempt at a back and forth will go nowhere, with you still hating the Church and spending cycles bashing on it and me giving up and doing someone more interesting.
Anyways, tired of fighting advertisements on this board. As you all were.

You're speaking from experience, right jskains? I certainly haven't forgotten about the time that you tried to sell "mormonssuck.com" for--what was it? A quarter of a million dollars or something like that? Did you sell "needahappyhome.com", too? Actually, it seems you've been quite prolific when it comes to whacko money-making schemes.

Do you know much more than he looked at peep stones for treasure? To me the details are too scant to really get a mature understanding of what actually went on. And supposedly an Angel told him to stop doing it. So if the story is to be believed by folks like me, worse case he was slapped for his actions.

Did you try swindling people out of their money? I sure didn't.
Jskains certainly did try to pump money out of people via a variety of kooky schemes. As to whether this constitutes "swindling".... Well, I don't know.

He admitted to his father in law that he could never see any treasure in his stone at all. But he charged people to do it for them. He was a con man.

"You have stolen my daughter and married her. I had much rather have followed her to her grave. You spend your time in digging for money -- pretend to see in a stone, and thus try to deceive people." Joseph wept, and acknowledged he could not see in a stone now, nor never could; and that his former pretensions in that respect, were all false. He then promised to give up his old habits of digging for money and looking into stones. Mr. Hale told Joseph, if he would move to Pennsylvania and work for a living, he would assist him in getting into business. Joseph acceded to this proposition.
