Observation/Question:

Is the circulation of Mormon Times or interest in your articles so limited that you need the attention of viewership of this message board?

Does this board generate more attention for your articles than they get from readers of Mormon Times?

Plainly, attempted insults masquerading as questions.

The weekday print circulation of the Deseret News (in the Thursday edition of which the Mormon Times appears) is somewhat more than 73,000. Meanwhile, the on-line edition of the Deseret News had more than 2.5 million unique visitors in March 2011.

The highest number of users ever online on this message board was 78. That figure was reported on Monday, 27 June 2011, at 9:28 PM.

Do the math.

Make 78 the numerator of a fraction and 2,573,000 its denominator. This will represent roughly how large the potential audience is on this board in proportion to the potential audience of Mormon Times. But only roughly, of course, because a printed newspaper can be, and often is, read by multiple persons.

Is it just limited interest then? Just wondering why you seem to be the Mormon Times author needing to promote your articles on obscure message boards?!!! Is it needed attention or ego thing?

Your pressing duties as an essential captain of world industry probably prevent you from thinking much about writers, professors, and other little people of that type. So I'm very flattered that you would take time from your busy schedule of Meeting Payrolls and Establishing Corporations and the like to wonder about so insignificant a creature as I. The attention leaves me all aflutter, and I'm positively giddy with eagerness to answer.

I'm probably unique among writers, I suppose, in wanting people to read what I write.

But I do, and there it is.

Since this is a board where things Mormon are (more or less, and after a manner of speaking) discussed, and since I participate here, I thought it not inappropriate to mention things about Mormonism that I have written elsewhere.

We can't all enjoy the satisfactions that you savor as you bestride the world like a financial colossus, Meeting Payrolls and Establishing Corporations and the like.

Writing is one of my little satisfactions. A poor thing, as another insignificant non-captain of industry once observed many years ago, but my own.

Hi Dan,

I know someone who's convinced that the Nephites lived in Malaysia.

Is the Hill "crawmora" there?

Daniel, please write like this more often.
Your intelligent sarcastic humour is very very funny.
In fact, if your weekly column were done in this style you would gain at least 1 extra regular reader...

My new column is out.

But "Mormon Times" has restructured in some way, and I'm sitting in a lecture hall with only an iPhone.

Still, I don't want to disappoint my fans here.

I was going to make a comment about high shiny domes, but thought better of it.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
