Why doesn't God protect Missionaries from harm...?
I'm not referring to those Missionaries who cause their own mishap by being stupid (Missionary mauled by Lion incident) but rather this:
Sister Vanessa Bentley, a 22-year-old missionary from Tucson, Ariz., serving in the New York Utica Mission, died Tuesday, Aug.30, in a two-car collision in upstate New York.
Sister Bentley's companion, Sister Natalie Love of Hemet, Calif., and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, Nora McDonald of Madrid, N.Y., were also injured in the collision.
As reported on Deseret News.

I think that you will have to ask God that question, in each individual case. You can start by asking why He did not protect Abel from Cain.
All throughout the Bible there are incidents where innocent people are killed or abused without interference from God. It still goes on today. God is the only only has those answers.

Here is a quote from the Prophet of the Church (Thomas S. Monson)
If we are on the Lord’s errand,..., we are entitled to the Lord’s help. Never forget that truth.

Re: Why doesn't God protect Missionaries from harm...?
I am a close relative of, Vanessa Bentley, and have just spent the past week with her family, mourning together and celebrating the life of this amazing young woman. There is no doubt in the mind and heart of the family that the Lord was very much involved in the events that have taken place.
Although it wasn’t our timing, there has been an outpouring of consolation and peace that have come at times and in ways that only God Himself could give.
Experiences too numerous, personal and tender to pass as coincidence, have strengthened our faith in God’s knowledge, love and interaction with his children.
Vanessa Bentley has faithfully fulfilled her mission in this mortal life and is reunited with her maker.
Our deepest hopes and wishes are to live as she did that we can be as prepared as she was to return home and ultimately see her again.

Thank you for taking the time to post here. I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Re: Why doesn't God protect Missionaries from harm...?
Over at MAD the coward who goes by the name "Pahoran" characterizes this thread thusly,
"Oinking with glee about" a missionary dying? Really Pahoran? All I see is a legitimate question about why God doesn't protect those in his service, especially when Mormons are generally led to believe they will be protected on their missions so long as they are faithful, wearing their magic armor with masonic symbols. If Pahoran thinks the Mormon friends and family members of these tragic victims, haven't asked these questions as well, then he is deluded. It is a perfectly reasonable question, and Pahoran's only response is to attack someone for asking it. This is typical of cult mentality.
Pahoran's misrepresentation is deliberate, and he epitomizes everything that is wrong with the modern apologetic mindset. They cannot win one on one debates so they have to go huddle back with their tribe and pat each other on the back with outrageous misrepresentations of what we have said.
Dan Peterson has the audacity to pretend to be a victim of "malevolent stalking" while continuously invoking the names of those he claims he never wants to contact, particularly me Scratch and me.
Mormon apologetics will be so much better off when this old generation of intellectual posers running the asylum, fade away. Schryver the misogynist, Pahoran the bigot, DCP the eternally persecuted hypocrite, Bob Crockett the "super lawyer" of California who has to resort to personal attacks because he cannot even mount a decent case for the defense of his own religion, etc etc... They can never win a debate on any given issue. They almost always have to resort to these tactics just to make themselves feel better. Schryver is back at it again essentially declaring a state of war and asking everyone to choose a side. IF you can't win any of the battles on intellectual grounds, well, at least you can find comfort back at home base with the rest of your deluded loyalists.
Over at the Sty, the herd are oinking with glee about the Sister Missionary who died in a car accident in New York. The thread is: Mormon discussions dot com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20177
The usual suspects are making "Neener neener" posts about God not protecting the sister missionary.
What a class act.
Regards,
Pahoran

Pahoran: oinking with glee as he uses the Sister missionary's death as an excuse to attack and lie about people here.
