Is this the Gospel according to Belmont or can you back this up with official Church references?

Like when He explained to Joseph that He meant just Protestantism was wrong and not 'all' religions.

Or when He explained to Joseph which religions were actually right because, as you point out, He only meant Protestantism was wrong, not the other religions that were kicking about at the time.

Come on Simon - official references please

I fail to see any differences between Joseph Smith proclaiming all religions abominations, or, just protestant ones. The fact that he made such an inflammatory comment, when he should have been following the 2nd commandment, is very telling of someone who was narcissistic enough to believe he was a prophet. And then Mormons wonder why other churches avoid them like the plague.

You're missing the point, as usual. I told you I'd hypothetically grant however you want to interpret that statement.

That one solitary statement/event constitutes 180 years of torment, murder, assassination, masacre, and militant idiots harassing peaceful conference goers?

That's pretty sick, jon.

By the way, I'd say Mormons have killed a lot more "gentiles" than the other way around.

Why can't Mormons just let protestants worship in peace? Why have Latter-day Saints taken it upon themselves to persecute the Methodists?

Why do Mormons persecute Methodists? Or anyone else for that matter? Because it feels good. I attend a very liberal presbyterian church, and am involved in their mission statement concerning social justice. Not once have I heard someone speak ill of the LDS church. We actually have a Mormon fellow in our choir, who isn't an apostate, but merely comes because we allow him to sing and play music he has written, something Mormons won't do, because it's too jazzy. Not one person in choir has ever said anything contrary to this gentleman about his beliefs. Not once.

No, you said it referred only to Protestantism - reread your own post.

That statement is now sacred Mormon scripture, not just some statement. It was Christ talking face to face with the Mormon Prophet, Joseph Smith. Christ stated that "all were wrong".

Do you state that you believe that Christ didn't mean all religions - yes or no?

I know what I said.

It's irrelevant, since I am granting you, this one time, a hypothetical:

For the purpose of this discussion, let us suppose that what God meant was that all other religions were wrong, and Mormonism was correct.

Okay?

That one solitary statement, for you, justifies 180 years of beatings, burnings, massacres, tarrings and featherings, extermination orders, hateful anti-Mormon publications, and militant fools protesting peaceful Conference goers twice a year?

You are one sick individual, jon.

Yeah, I really wish the Mormons would cut that out.

How ridiculous to think someone supports tarring and feathering, beatings, and the like. But if anybody asked for it Joseph Smith did. Just look at what the business practices must have been like wherever they plopped themselves. And by the time BY had control over the territory of Utah, they did more pillaging themselves than others had done to them.
