Anna Freud reported the successful treatment of homosexuals as neurotics in a series of unpublished lectures. In 1949 she published “Some Clinical Remarks Concerning the Treatment of Cases of Male Homosexuality” in the International Journal of Psychoanalysis.
Robert Spitzer concluded that some highly motivated individuals whose orientation is predominantly homosexual can become predominantly heterosexual with some form of reparative therapy.
Too many have suffered from excessive sips of Kinsey's Kool-Aid.

I just realized this is in Celestial, so our previous exchange was no doubt moved.

Reparative therapy is the 20th century equivalent of snake oil. It doesn't work. It's quackery and moreover it's extremely harmful to those it's practiced on. What's more, it's treating a normal healthy condition as if it were a problem. Homosexuality is normal and healthy.

Many self-loathing gay men have claimed to have been cured through one means or another. What happens is they're going further back into the closet. Ted Haggard and Larry Craig spring to mind.

But obviously if they were doing it correctly the results would have been more successful (arguably, they were anyway). But let us not forget that it was based on good science, and for almost a century it was supported by those atheistic heathens in science, and for that matter aversion therapy is still good science, especially when taken in accordance with a doctor recommended regimen..

There is no credible evidence that any therapy is effective at changing sexual orientation. So I win by default.
