I have yet to see you present any facts, just assertions.

but then there are those that did neither, and those that did one or the other or both in their "older" years, and those that had no family but rebelled against school, or those that never were rebellious but always had a deep desire to yell at their car but never saw the sense in such an act.

I was just presenting a possible reason for you being at one time an atheist. Someone who stopped believing in God not due to reason, but due to emotions and rebelling against family and religion.

according to all the clinical studies? or are you just "figuring"? is that how you "feel" about it? or do you have any of that fancy logic to support your claims here?

Just observation. You tend to show a lot of negative emotion in your posts, and a real hatred for atheists.

why? because the cool kids were atheists? smoking cigarettes and marxism, the tell-tale signs of a troubled youth. again, do you have any "logic" or facts, or is it all posits?

Again, just the same observation as to why some people become atheists for a time.

how can it explain that? atheism is quite simple and almost requires no understanding.

And yet you still don't understand it. That must be embarrassing.

God(s) do not exist.

An assertion most atheists do not make. It's lack of belief due to lack of evidence. Most atheists I know would gladly believe in some God/s if good evidence were to emerge.

simple, all that logically follows from that requires that initial assumption.

Atheists have a variety of beliefs, and many are religious. Most if not all are very moral, even if different people and religions define what is moral differently.

Now, if one does not have an accurate understanding of what they reject it is likely the atheist.

It just a rejection of belief in God/s. No one knows all the gods that are claimed to exist. I have a lack of belief in Catholicism and it's God, and I bet they have a more accurate understanding of it then you or I.

many atheist would reject an incorrect notion of the nature of God and therefore maintain an erroneous position in subsequent criticism of their "false" God.

And what would be that correct notion of the nature of God. Yours, or one of the many different beliefs about the nature of God.

username=Themis? really?

username=subgenius? Really?

i stand by my assertions about atheists and their ego and self-centered-ness.

Well, you have been standing by many of your assertions without backing them up. You seem to be very ego-centric based on how you treat those who see things differently. by the way I am agnostic, even if I defend those who are atheist. It's not exactly hard with one who is so close minded and not willing to learn. You could learn a lot from believing members like Don Bradley, who also was an atheist before returning to the church.

Subgenius - could you be more specific? For example, were there certain books or people who convinced you? If so, what or who were they? And what did you find convincing? Also, you mentioned revelation - could you again be more specific? Was it a vision, burning in the bosom, quickened understanding, or something else? And why did you find that convincing?
