Yes, Mormon God is a bit fickle. Polygamy is commanded, polygamy is now not commanded, polygamy is an excommunicatable offense, polygamy is okay in the next life...
Hard to know sometimes which side of the ship to run to...
Do you think God authorised Joseph Smith to marry pre-pubescent teenagers and other men's wives, because I can't Seem to see that covered in the revelation?

Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right.

No, what we know is that men say he does. That doesn't mean he does.

BC, I know you believe that modern revelation Trump's old revelation,
Anyone who accepts revelation believes that.
but don't you think God should have been more careful about allowing the prophet to reveal something that would later be contradicted?
What we do know from the scriptures is that God authorizes plural marriage from time to time.
Having doctrine revised to help better clarify things is one thing, but to make an 180 Degree change shows that God may not be steadfast, reliable or fair.
It could be that people are not steadfast, reliable, or fair. And there is also Isaiah 55:8 to consider as well.
Why cannot God simply provide to his servants a revelation that is accurate in all cases? Plural marriage is ordained of God in those times in which God feels it necessary. Those times being when there are more women than men, when offspring are needed and when a servant is highly favored and obtains permission to have extra wives.
I would expect that the language God would use for revelation would be well thought out and provide something that could be relevant in times of plural marriage and when not allowed.

Nonexisting being can do anything, and the opposite of anything.
by the way Is God a he? (if he exists at all...)

Of course he's a He. No She would condone polygamy. ;-)
