Both the Book of Mormon and Mormons have not said and believed that Lamanites are "only" those descended from Laman/Lemuel. This is the anti-mormon strawman that they then try and tear down.

Mormons are well respected professionals and scholars in their various fields.
They don't all of a sudden become stupid the moment they study Mormon issues. They apply the SAME standard of professionalism to Mormonism that they apply to their own work.

Hard-line partisans are not very good at thinking critically about their allegiances.
And no, they most certainly do NOT apply the same standard of professionalism to Mormonism as to their own work. If they did they'd be out of work, or out of the apologetics game.
