Rubicon -

Welcome to the board! Thank you for sharing your experiences as a bishop. As someone on the otherside of the fence, let me just say that leaders such as yourself make these difficult issues much easier to deal with. I wish all members felt and thought the same as you do.

Rubicon & Black MOclips,
Very interesting & revealing stories. I respectfully suggest that neither is unique. Even though personal, they are more common that some care to consider.

What I think might also be becoming more common is what both the Bishops in these stories personified: An enlightened understanding of the individuality of member dispositions, and comfort ranges re gospel doctrine. Which is not the same as ones understanding of personal goodness, or Christ-like-living.

The latter being what church membership is supposed to bring one to. Does it always? IS church membership/attendance a prerequisite to Christ-like living?
I do hope amicable resolutions attend you all. The strength to bear burdens IS within each of us.

Warmest regards, Roger
