Sneaky clever Joseph

Post by _Tonto Schwartz »

Whatever else Joseph was, he was certainly clever in a sneaky way. Take, for example, his story that Moroni would not let him take the plates during the first visit to the hill because Moroni could tell that Joseph wanted the plates to enrich himself. Why would Joseph admit this? I think that Joseph wanted people to think he was just being brutally honest even though this part of the story didn't cast him in a favorable light. I believe the real reason Joseph put this in the story is that it proves that when Moroni finally let Joseph take the plates this angel of God was satisfied that Joseph had been purified from his money digging schemes and did not have any intent to make money off the Book of Mormon, proving all those contemporary skeptics wrong who thought the Book of Mormon was just another of Joseph's treasure digging money-making schemes. Of course it wasn't. That's why one of the first things Joseph did was to have a "revelation" that two of his followers should go to Toronto where they could sell the copyright to the Book of Mormon for $8000. I couldn't be more convinced if Moroni shook Joseph's hand.

It wasn't brutally honest to say he only had one wife when he was diddling over a dozen other "wives."

God is kinda craycray to let Hyrum and Joseph declare bankruptcy rather than give them treasures of the earth to pay off their debts. Or soften the hearts of their creditors like he promised.

Oh, and WELCOME to the board!

Had Joseph not been murdered we would probably be discussing his different versions of his vision of Hiram Abiff restoring the temple ordinances and keys, why the Quadhead (Elohim, Adam, Jesus & HG) is better than the Trinity, and how Zohar is one of the three Nephites.

And we would be sitting down each night to have dinner with our wives...

No, no. Jesus would have already come and be reigning with blood and horror..I mean with peace and prosperity on the earth.
