Polygamy is nothing new. That is no reason to move; very few knew about polygamy then. It was the persecution.

And yet you provide no evidence of the plethora of examples of persecution that you claim.

1.) Were any children under the age of accountability killed?

Yes, several were. When a number of graves were accidentally disturbed by a backhoe in 1999, a number of infants' and childrens' skulls showed exit wounds from high-caliber firearms at short range. In other words, little kids had their brains blown out, execution-style. This was a major reason why Mike Leavitt, Utah's governor at the time, ordered the remains hastily reburied before the FBI had a chance to conduct a thorough forensic analysis.

2.) As the giver of life, isn't it God's prerogative to take it when and how He chooses?

Sure; if God exists, it's His prerogative. It's not the prerogative of a bunch of backward hicks in Southern Utah.

3.) Isn't it possible that the adults were a part of the mob that killed Joseph and Hyram?

No, it isn't. The immigrants were from Arkansas, not Illinois.

4.) Didn't God say something somewhere (in D&C, I believe) about holding them accountable for their blood unto the third or fourth generation unless they repented?

It's impossible for innocent people to be "accountable" for a crime they never committed.

gdemetz, you have given essentially nothing to support your claim to the Melchizedek priesthood. Obviously there was a Levitical priesthood but even that was reserved exclusively for those of the tribe of Levi...how many have that in the Mormon Church? Mormonism is a fraud in virtually ever way...it's claim to have Christ's priesthood dishonors his name. There is none other like him...his priesthood is everlasting and he is our high priest forever and we need no other.

Priesthood is merely the authority to act in the name of God. If gdemetz or anyone else has "the priesthood", then God will back up what they promise and say - otherwise, they have NO priesthood what-so-ever.

Albion, I have just seen another translation of the Bible that I'm sure you will love. It called Papa Joe's modern evangelical version. It has some major changes in it that I'm sure you'll love. For example; instead of "Ye are gods and all of you are the children of the most high." (Psalms 82:6), it reads, "All you dirty judges that act like gods need to clean up your act so you can be called the children of the Most High." And this one, "And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father..." (Rev 1:6), however, in the PJME version it's; "And hath made us like kings, but not priests unto..." And this one for Matthew 19:17; ... but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments..." In the PJME version it reads; but if ya'll will enter into life, just come before this here congregation and make a profession of faith out loud, ya hear?" There are a lot of other changes that I'm sure you will love, especially all those verses that change where it stated before that God gave us the priesthood!

or perhaps from their parents using them as "shields" - such despicable behavior.
and are we assuming that the FBI has no ability to exhume bodies if they want to?.....seems like a naïve assumption.

agreed, but it is an error to assume knowledge of how God chooses to take life....backward hicks (as opposed to forward ones) may have been the appropriate option at the time.

No, it isn't. The immigrants were from Arkansas, not Illinois.

so, yes it is possible...unless there is some sort of evidence that excludes that possibility?

"allegedly" never committed.
