Re: Jeffderson Tells the Truth
Who is Jeffderson?
Google (the all-knowing but stupid god of ours) asks "Did you mean: jefferson?"

I've waived Your ignored status for a few moments.
OK, then what about the title of this thread: Jeffderson Tells the Truth
Is this the same category as links, references, formatting, quotes, images, URLs - things You are our expert in?

No, you really haven't, gdemetz. What you have shown is how Mormons grasp at even the slightest inference to support the false gospel laid out by Smith. Smith claimed to have Christ's priesthood so by extension any use of the word priesthood, no matter its context, obviously supports that by Mormon reasoning.

Just a thought, gdemetz....I know you claim Mormons are those priests but just who are the kings?

Albion, you are as stubborn as you are dense! How many scriptures do you need to be hit in the face with before it finally sinks in that there were priest ordained in the New Testament after Christs ministry?!? How many quotes do I have to give you?!?!?!?

You have not provided one single verse which verifies priesthood being conferred and you haven't answered my question with regard to kings.

Albion, the "kings" were a future prophecy from the Book of Revelation, and I already gave you quotes about that, however, I will give one of them to you again!
"Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of hands of the presbytery." 1 Timothy 4:14

Re: Jeffderson Tells the Truth
Let me go over Biblical priesthood for you once again, gdemetz. In the Old Testament there was a single priesthood. It was called the Levitical priesthood because only members of the tribe of Levi could hold it (how many Mormon young men are from this tribe?). They, like Aaron, were set apart to officiate in priestly duties. This priesthood was still in operation at the time of Christ led by a single High Priest who presided over the "trial" of Jesus...a man called Caiaphas. There was one other referred to by this title but Jewish history confirms that he was Caiaphas' predecessor who out of honor was still referred to as high priest (think George W. Bush still being referred to as President). One of the highest duties of the High Priest took place each year on the Day of Atonement when he, and he alone, entered the most sacred place of the temple, the Holy of Holies, to make intercession for forgiveness on behalf of all the people. This was done year after year after year. after year......
Jesus' death on the cross was the ultimate sin offering. At the point of his death the veil of the temple, a huge and thick curtain that separated the Holy of Holies, and symbolic of God's dwelling place, was rent from top to bottom...no longer was there a barrier between God and man because Jesus entered through as our High Priest to make intercession on our behalf ONCE, FOR ALL. It never needed to be done again. But here is the interesting part. Jesus was not of the tribe of Levi and thus could not claim inheritance of the Levitical priesthood to do such a thing. In all of Biblical history there was only one man whose "priestly" authority surpassed all others...the man Melchizedec, to whom even Abraham gave his tithes signifying this mysterious man's higher authority. He is described as being without genealogy suggesting almost that he was without worldly connections...a "type" of Christ (some even suggest that it might have been Christ). Only one person, Jesus, can even compare with, or even surpass, Merlchizedek....and it is to this lofty position as the highest of the highest, as the ultimate High Priest, Jesus ascended in order to have authority to perform the last and final act of atonement...ONCE FOR ALL...not year after year after year as the worldy high priest did but with finality. In so doing he entered into the place where God dwells and sat down at his right hand where he makes intercession for believers today.
There is only one holder of the Melchizedek priesthood and that is Jesus. He alone is worthy to hold it....he alone is the only high priest we need and in offering himself as the ultimate sacrifice for sin he has done away with the need for the Levitical priesthood because all their duties have bee fulfilled.
Gdemetz, this is not an interpretation of scripture. The role of the Levitical priesthood is supported by Jewish history and Christ's role as our high priest is clearly supported by a reading of the Book of Hebrews. There are only three places where Melchizedec is mentioned in Scripture....one is his first appearing, the second is a phrophetic reference, and the third where clearly Jesus performs in that capacity. Clearly, the Mormon Church use of the title makes a mockery of holy scripture.

Re: Jeffderson Tells the Truth
Albion, you just sent me a bunch of ignorant evangelical hogwash! I'm not even talking about the Old Testament. What I gave you was the simple fact that Bishop Timothy received the laying on of hands for his priesthood endowment! It states that clearly and plainly! You have just been brainwashed by dumb evangelical hogwash for so long that you can't seem to get it out of your system!
I also showed you plainly how Christ would also make others "PRIESTS and kings"! If you don't want to except what the Bible actually states, then come up with your own dumb evangelical version!!!
