Kish, even if she attempts to speak with power, that does not mean she had it in the relationship, especially when it comes to their professional relationship. He abused his power in the professional relationship.
And it's still relevant to the public because he still abuses his power in his public and professional relationships.
I have to agree with Kish and Doc. Rosebud is not much of a victim here. There is a difference with the case of the young single mother being pressured by her married boss to engage in a sexual encounter and the unwanted sexual communications that go along with it and Rosebud. Rosebud had a plan and clearly was the aggressor in this. Maybe JD is abusive and manipulative but that doesn't mean that he didn't meet his match with Rosebud or perhaps was a little outmatched for a while?
It's clear to me that there should be zero tolerance for what was going on between JD and Rosebud as sexual banter in the workplace only leads to bigger problems. However, we cannot discount that in certain cases, the female could be the more powerful even when the male has the title. Again, as Kish and Doc outlined, in this case, Rosebud aggressively pushed for control and wanted to insert herself into JD's marriage to further her aims. JD is to blame for his conduct too but Rosebud's actions are blame worthy as well and shouldn't be discounted merely because the usual case of power dynamics goes the other way.

Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.
After all this back and forth, the Reverend, I would say, has largely solved the puzzle. There may be more information out there to consider but, really, at this point, what is it going to change?
Thanks, Kishkumen.
It is my current theory pending new evidence, but thanks, Stem.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”
What’s really cute is your attempt to put words in my mouth. I said it was the story that was being ignored, not the only story. I most certainly did not reduce it to a contest between Joanna and Rosebud. You evidently refuse to acknowledge the power, role, and agency of Joanna.
There were many players involved in the professional situation, but the principle conflict was between John and Rosebud. And agency, which everyone has, is not the same as power and the abuse of power.
So you say that neither Joanna nor Rosebud had any power.

No. I'm saying Dehlin enjoyed a power differential and abused it.
No one is saying otherwise. What we're saying is that infantalizing Rosebud doesn't do her actions any favors. She was the creator of her own destiny, and as an adult she's as responsible for her choices. Any sort of pass she might have because of 'inherent power differentials' only serve to make her a victim. She's not the victim - she suffered from poor judgement, her own judgement, and because she wasn't the primary revenue generator for this whole enterprise she was squeezed out OR she chose poorly by not taking the contractor position, which was frankly a pretty generous offer by the Open Stories Foundation board.

How is saying she was subjected to abuse, infantilising her?
in order to understand your perspective better, if you had control of the situation, what would you have done?
- Doc
I'm assuming the control would by virtue of personal ownership of the foundation.
Perhaps I would have dissolved Open Stories Foundation, created an independent platform with better professional standards and required those who participate to agree to those standards.
