If you believe that life in the flesh is all there is and life is indeed defined by the flesh then your statement makes sense. But if life is defined as the life of the soul then the flesh has no value other than teaching the soul various lessons so it can progress in time by experience. Without a proper frame to define what life is your question can not be answered. I can guess and say that God cares for our soul but does not care for the fleshly body. I think this is clear in scripture. I accept what it says. Many do not.

"God cares for our soul but does not care for the fleshly body" Oh, Ok I guess that is why God doesn't bother to answer the prayers of all the starving children throughout the world. He only cares about their souls.

This must really bother you. Do you think that the unbalanced food supply is the fault of God? Do you think that man killing man is the fault of God? Those questions imply that you have a caring soul and wish the best for man. But are you going to act on these feelings of compassion? Will you sit back and do nothing but blame God?
These are hard things to accept in the world. Jesus said the poor will always be with us. Is it because we need the poor so we can become better by showing charity? These are things I pray about. Maybe you should pray for the souls of all of the starving children like I do.

Did I say that the unbalanced food supply is God's fault? I said that God does not seem to answer the prayers of thousands of people who are starving to death. Why is he willing to help some people find their car keys but not answer the sincere prayers of those in dire need. I was just using your quote to answer the question. He dosen't care about the fleshly body...

It does seem unfair. It seems cruel. It seems lots of things. This world is very difficult to live in. So we can look to bury our self here or we can look to escape. The question is how do we do that? I believe there are answers to those questions. But if we let the world cloud our mind we only see the world and we are buried here. This world is real but it is also a stage so we can see it as a subset of a much greater reality. Cut the ties that bind you to this world and seek the greater reality. Only having done this can you see this world as it really is.

I have asked God many times why I live here and others suffer so in this world. I have never received an answer other than this world is a place for us to learn. And where I can I help my fellow man. No matter how much I try I can not imagine how much God suffers seeing His children act badly with each other. It must be like a parent who sees his kid walk for the first time. Happy for them but also knowing the first fall is coming as well. We must allow our child to walk and learn. Just expand that concept to souls and many cycles in the flesh. To learn and to develop into a greater spirit than we were before the adventure. It is my belief we all asked to come here.

"I have asked God many times why I live here and others suffer so in this world." - It is called the lucky sperm club
"I have never received an answer other than this world is a place for us to learn." - What are the starving supposed to learn? That man is cruel to man and that life sucks?
"To learn and to develop into a greater spirit than we were before the adventure." - And just how are they supposed to learn that?

How do we learn anything? We must experience some set of conditions and then react to them. Of course as we make choices we see what those choices do to others. Why here in this flesh in this exact way I sure don't know why. I do believe it is way more complex than I imagine.
I find that now that I see the world differently it is more complex a world than when I saw everything in physical terms. The added dimension of spiritual purpose is not easy to see and maintain in view. The flesh is a very powerful distraction.
It would be so easy to fall back and let the world have me. To be tossed about and just go with the flow so to speak. But the struggle to get here does have a reward that I never experienced before getting here. I now have a presence around me that gives me comfort. And of course I do enjoy the unfolding story in scripture. There is so much more to learn.

My grandparents went through the Great Depression. The one pair had two children and my grandfather collected coal from along the railroad tracks to keep the house warm in the winter. My other grandmother was abondoned by her philandering husband and left with two small sons and she got a menial job and moved in with her parents to make ends meet. However, though then poor, both gained some wealth and also improved the lives of their children, who all had families and remained married (no divorces) and had children of their own and lived a very content middle class suburban lifestyle in the 50's, 60's and beyond... The Cleavers would have been proud. So, the poor don't have to remain that way and life moves on. Choices do make a difference.
