So, if YOU were God, how would you handle it? It is a simple thing to be critical; and you have a very strong opinion about how He's handling things. Let's see what solutions you can come up with, and allow the rest of us to review them and give our opinions about them.

If I was God I would have chosen Satan's plan. That way I get guaranteed results and any short fall in 'learning & development' as a result of not getting choices between good and evil I would solve by using my God power to magic it into everyone's nature.

son of Ishmael wrote: Wow Jo you are really on a roll. The point of my comments is that it seems that God only answers the prayers of very few people. I can't imagine a prayer more sincere than that of a man whose children are starving to death. Yet your answer is "Well you should have controlled your sex drive and had less children." If God is omnipotent, I would think he could find a way to answer that man's prayer without violating the prime directive of screwing with people's free agency if he wanted to. Maybe he just doesn't want to.
I see that you put your own twist on what you thought I said. My comment about the sex drive was "should God take away their sex drive"; In other words, should He take away their free agency (and one of the few choices that can at least bring them momentary happiness).
by the way I do give a good portion of my income to help the needy. Since I don't pay tithing to the COB anymore I have money that can actually go to a good cause.
It is very easy and very safe to write a check. Do you know for a certainty that the money you are donating is being used the way it is being claimed to be used?

I love this. You have no freaking clue who I am or what I have done with my life. And even when I do say, you either won’t believe me or say it wasn't enough. I have spent years in developing nations on three continents helping in construction projects, providing clean water and coordinating medical attention. It was there that I starting wondering why so many people on earth have to go with so little and why so few have so much. I participate with several micro loan programs that get money straight into the hands of the people who need it.
Of course you won’t believe me because it does not fit into your paradigm about people who don’t think like you

And now you have your answer...so Mormon God can tart up the neighbourhood in SLC with an upmarket shopping mall...
You should be proud of what you've done, although I suspect you are Christlike enough to always be feeling you could do more. Nice one, I salute you.

Welcome to apologetics. You would think you would have figured this out some time ago. No one can know anyone with short posts on a blog. Grow up.
If you wish people to know you then write more detail. But be ready for all of those comments that take everything you say out of context. And when you feel a certain way about one thing be ready for others to assume that is the way you feel about everything. This is called the real world.

Franktalk, I thought the 'real world' was when you cast off this world and live in the spirit?

Well, it is about freaking time you played your ace which you have held so close to your chest waiting for the right moment to spring it on all of the clueless people.
Seeing as how you have done so much and seen so much, your critical analysis about "God" has given you some insight that not many of us can claim. This should make you especially qualified to offer solutions where you feel God has fallen short. How about it? Are you up to the task of offering solutions rather than ranting about what you think is wrong?

Does he get to pretend to the same powers God is claimed to have when putting forward his proposals?
You know like, "I would end the wickedness in the world by drowning everyone in a supernatural flood" or does he have to limit himself to what mere mortals are capable of?

jo, I honestly don't believe there is a God. I did once but I don't now. If there is one He/She/It doesn't really care about us. I don't blame God for the problems of the world but I do blame those people who have used God and the various religions for trying to control people. Telling people that there is a God and a judgment and afterlife of heaven or hell is just a way to control people in this life. I doubt anyone would strap on a suicide vest if they didn't hold on to some belief that they were going to paradise or some such place afterward. Of course if there were no belief in God or no religions there would still be war and bloodshed because after all, it is really all about resources. You have stuff (oil, land, gold, food, etc) and I want it.
Telling people that they are here to grow and learn through their suffering and afflictions is just another way to try to control their behavior. Maybe it makes their lives a little more bearable but maybe if they knew that this is really all there is they wouldn’t put up with the crap their leaders try to pull off.
I do not have any answers for how to fix things on macro level so I try to do what I can on a micro level. .

Telling people that there is a God and a judgment and afterlife of heaven or hell is the very same as telling a person that his house is on fire and he better get out while the getting is good. People who would kill others by blowing themselves up have no idea concerning the love of God nor have a desire to save souls. They also do not see that their life has value.
