How will this affect Mormonisim

Post by _sister »

I have not been Mormon very long, but have been Evangelical and Muslim in the past.

So, in the last few days, in the news is the announcement that possibly Jesus Christ was married. This from a small piece of papyrus written on by the Coptics. The story is easy to discover on the internet. This is not the only source of such information that I have seen over the years, so I am wondering if this story, should it be proven to be true will affect LDS belief. I don't think it will at all, but I know other denominations where this will be a huge problem.

No, since they already believe that He was married.

It would be embarrassing to the Church if it turns out the wife of Jesus was black, or a man, or someone under the age of fifteen....

The answer from the Prophet (JFS) who may or may not have been speaking in the duties of Prophet at the time, is: 'YES, but don't preach it!'

WTF?

The detailed explanation from that site:

OK, from now on we know exactly who, when, what have said on the subject.

No biggie for Mormons. The bigger deal would be if she had the priesthood.

Not to worry, it seems that the investigators already have their doubts as to if the paper is genuine. The news media is so gullible and liberal to a fault.
