Why this sounds a difficult thing, the Christian lady, should actually be very happy that her murderer repented. This is something most non-christians simply do not understand. God forgives us so much more.

While I do not feel that it is the governments place to "forgive" the criminal for what that individual has done to someone, I do feel that the victim and the family/friends of that individual must be willing to forgive when a criminal begs forgiveness. This is what Jesus teaches. That said, "I also know that immersion is an outward illustration of an inward change. The act saves no one. As a result, I see no reason for a person to get immersed for someone else, unless that someone else (for whatever reason) requests it as the result some of illness.

No! When a person rapes, he should be executed after a trial of his peers find him guilty. That is what government is supposed to do. And that is what the United States government once did. However the rape victim can forgive the rapist. Your are confused because you choose to be. I certainly do not consider you dense.

no, because that would be contrary - forgiveness typically means to forgo the desire for punishment.
The victim should forgive....but the State, and justice, is blind.

Once a person takes a life, their life is required by society or that society will be enslaved to supporting an ever growing prison population that will sap money from the economy and ultimately the vicims.
